My first question has to be: Why???

This is obviously unethical and wrong

But how might various religions respond to this issue? And on the basis of what beliefs and/or scripture?

Besides: If such "Humanzees" would have an ape-like natural approach to the divine/religious creation than the western concept of religion, it most likely would be an overall religious and human approvement for the Earth and it´s living beings.

My religion doesn't concern itself with if it's ethical or not, right or not. We're Lovecraftian like that. My religion would say it's foolish, even stupid. We were even eye rolling when someone came out with a lion/tiger hybrid (liger). That's not impossible as lions and tigers aren't that far apart genetically. Humans and chimpanzees are two very close relatives but still too far removed to be hybridized (should've been obvious without getting real sciency). The Soviets and later Chinese didn't have enough info to realize this, I suppose.

In Judaism this would be a prohibited mixture. The prohibtion includes sowing mixed fields of produce, cross breeding animals. I don't have the details memorized, sadly.

It appears that all attempts were to make a humanzee, to me a chuman would be even worse.

Attempts at hybridization are complicated in such dissimilar animals. We don't have the technology, currently.
A much simpler approach would be simple selective breeding for whatever traits we'd find useful, as was done with Belyaev foxes.
