Bridging the Gap Between Believers and Skeptics
This topic probably comes up often on these forums, but I'm including a poll with multiple options and also putting this in debates, so there's that. The question on my mind is: Which came first, God or existence? By existence I don't mean the Universe. Doing some extrapolating, I would argue that existence first started to exist when The Omniverse existed. When did The Omniverse first start to exist? I would argue that it forever exists, always a part of the past, always a part of the future, and that the Universe we're in is a tiny fraction of its existence.

I intend on voting that God and existence came into being at the same time, as I see God as change and that God is what nature is becoming, every single day nature is becoming more like God, deep from its beginnings until now, and deep into the future even long after I'm dead. But I'm curious as what people think about this topic. Which came first to you? How and why? Let's have a deep discussion and dialogue about the very beginning, how it got here, and where do we go from here. Let us know what you voted and more importantly, why you voted that way. Votes will be public like usual, and you will only be able to vote for one option on this poll, to avoid contradictions.

Which came first: God or existence? Explain to us what you think and why you think that way here.

I voted and responded, but I withdrew my response pending your defining your terms.

"Existence" could mean something entirely different to you than it does to me. Same with "God."

Nothing my eye, Something for sure
Who's to say there are no realities beyond the only one that is the sum of all human knowledge?

It's arrogant to think our universe is all there is and all that will ever be.

I'm not going to say that this universe is all of existence. That would be presumptuous.

The idea of other existences is intriguing. Perhaps there is a God reality, but nobody knows it, it don't know us, or it isn't benevolent, or has limited powers, or is totally impersonal.

The answer to your question is we may not have the right questions to ask, and no one really knows.

Life is like a meaningful sentence written in the sand, and no knowable author is anywhere around. The sentence makes its own meanings, and is so very sure of all its answers, but the truth is beyond the sentence.

I am very comfortable with a line in the Bhagavad-Gita:
"existent [and] non-existent, and beyond both."
If nothing exists,
Yet "That" is,
because "That" is not dependent on existence in order to ('be'),
dwelling as it were even in the space between existence and non-existence,
thus also both separate and inseparable.

Our material universe is based on space-time, where time and space are connected and act as one thing. An analog clock works by the second hand moving a circular distance in a given time. In the case of a digital display, the display in space, changes a given interval of time.

The question becomes what would happen if space-time, was separated, into separated space and separated time, so each variable can act independent of each other? For example, if one could move in space without any connection to time, one could be omnipresent. This is a classic attribute of God. Space-time sets limits; speed of light limited, while disconnected space and disconnected time have no limits; omnipresence. This tells us space-time or material reality, is a tiny subset of disconnected space and time. Space-time and the law of physics is reality as we know it. But disconnected space and time has far more possibilities in terms of variety.

To form space-time, from a realm with disconnected space and time, we only need to connect independent space and independent time at any point; primordial atom or singularity. Before that connection, there is no energy in the universe, only wavelength without frequency and frequency without wavelength; independent.

The junction of space and time to form of space-time, sets limits; laws of physics and space-time references. It also combines wavelength with frequency to allow photons of energy to suddenly appear. The original realm of separated space and separated time, by being infinite is not diminished by this point singularity; minor creation. Rather its condensation, into matter a space-time, will be like ice cube, now melting in a warm bath, as the universe evolves it back to the realm where space and time are separate. This is the source of the 2nd law, with independent space and time having infinite entropy; complexity.

The question becomes is there any experimental proof of where space and time can be disconnected? The answer is yes and it is connected to the human brain. The frontal lobe, which is the newest part of the human brain; in terms of evolution, is the source of our imagination. This is where information and memory can be arranged in ways, even where space-time are violated; perpetual motion machines. We can imagine gods which can violate the laws of physics. The imagination acts like a information matrix for disconnected space and time.

For example, I can imagine a bridge 10 kilometers long, made only of el dente' spaghetti. This is not possible in space-time since the weight and shear forces would never allow this to be built. However, it would be possible, if I could place the spaghetti in space, independent of time. Without time, I would neutralize all the forces that make it impossible. Forces need time to act in space. But in a realm of disconnected space and time, I can ignore time.

The brain can make a blue print for something than could theoretically exist where space and time are separated; Heaven. The imagination can deal with an aspect of consciousness, that is outside space-time, at this point in time, but which can later become part of space-time; innovation. Consciousness came first, before the universe creation; a small subset.

Current models of physics cannot create a universe from nothing, since it is limited to the rules of space-time. But disconnected space and time, does not have the same limits and allows one to go before space-time and before the known laws of physics, into a new level of laws, that may be easier in terms of explaining the quantum universe; time and distance potential, added to matter, beyond just laws of space-time. Synchronized particles have potential in distance independent of time; extra distance potential.

Why do you believe so?
I meant it tongue-in-cheek, but I was referring to the non-deterministic, Copenhagan interpretation of quantum mechanics, where reality consists of potential only, until observation "collapses" it into a 'reality'.

I selected God and existence started to exist at the same time, since I believe that both God and His Creation have always existed, from eternity.
Of course that doesn't mean that earth has always existed, but God's Creation is comprised of more than earth.

“As to thy question concerning the origin of creation. Know assuredly that God’s creation hath existed from eternity, and will continue to exist forever. Its beginning hath had no beginning, and its end knoweth no end. His name, the Creator, presupposeth a creation, even as His title, the Lord of Men, must involve the existence of a servant.”

As I understand the Bahai Faith says, there has never been a time, that God did not have a creation. So, the creation of God has no beginning. The only difference is, God is ancient by nature, whereas the existence is ancient through the will of God.
Maybe an analogy would be the Sun and its light. The everlasting Sun of Truth is God, and its light is the creation. Both always existed.

Didn't G-d (not Christians-God Jesus) always existed, and is therefore the First and the Last , every thing else got sxistence as bestowed by Him, please? Right?
