  • Lol, nice. :D

Was it difficult to give it up for you? Problem is, so much stuff has gelatine in it too. I find that incredibly annoying, all the good stuff has gelatine in! Even a cake I once ate, I noticed it had gelatine in it. Who puts gelatine in a banana-toffee chocolate cake? :areyoucra
Nope, she's a gori. :D I agree, I want them to have the ability to choose what religion they go for. I hope they stay Dharmic and keep their names, though. I find it strange when people lose their names for religious purposes.

Yeah, I created a vegetarian group on RF. Are you vegetarian or a meat eater? :)
Kind of. It's difficult to get information on religion out of her, since she generally sees religion as between her and God. I just asked her, and she replied with "Kind of yeah." Very descriptive. :D

She is somewhere between Hinduism and Buddhism, leaning mostly towards Hinduism (but she find the no beef idea quite distressing, lol). We're planning on bringing the kids up with a liberally religious upbringing: meaning they're not being dragged to mandir or whatever every 30 minutes, but we will encourage them to know their path and so on.
Yeah I am. Children, too. That's part of the reason why, I guess, although my wife is understanding and would let me go to India for a month or two if I wished. :D
The ability to do so, lol. :D When I can, I do plan on it, but I don't think it'll be for some time yet!
That's pretty exciting. I'd love to go to all of those places, too. One of the things I do want to see is the Golden Temple of Sikhism. :) Maybe Varanasi, too.
Oh dear, overrun? I suppose there are probably whole villages in India where everyone is Christian, aren't there?

Where would you like to visit in the North of India? Any ideas? I would like to visit Punjab. :)
I can speak a little Hindi and Punjabi, but it's only the basics, such as "Kya tum theek ho?" "Larka kha raha hai." etc. Very basic phrases. :) What about you?

What area is it in India you are from, do you know? If you don't mind me asking that is, of course. :)
Hehe, yeah there are quite a lot of us out there, which is surprising! :D I've never met a white Hindu or white Sikh in my city, though. A couple of white Buddhists, but no white Hindus or Sikhs. Strange, that. :D
I spent a little time as a Christian, but I couldn't practise it. It doesn't work for me, it's too.. alien to my own beliefs.
Yep! Long hair. It's to my upper back now, and I still think it's too short. My hair used to be to my lower back and I loved it that length.

I've had my hair cut before, including when I had a brief time in Christianity. I wish I hadn't, though, because I missed it when I had it all cut off. :(

I keep my facial hair short (often clean shaven -> visible goatee, then shave it all off), but I keep my hair long. I can have it cut, but I don't plan on it unless I need it cut (for example, cutting split ends).

I don't really like short hair, on anyone. It looks strange to me. I've had a lot of harassment from my sister over my long hair. She hates long hair, especially on men, but tough. :D
Lol, yep! I have... 23 last count. I didn't count them though, but that sounds about right. It's more visible if I keep my hair in a ponytail, though. I have long hair, and it's less visible when it's loose for some reason. I don't want to dye them, I kind of like them. :D
Haha, luckily I don't look about 40--but I do have grey hairs. :p

I'll PM you when I can think of something to ask. Which won't be long, since I'm nosy. :D
Wow, that is early. My cousin never found out until he was 15 or something. 22? Cool, I'm 23, but I feel about 40. :D So I'm guessing you entered Islam about.. 16 or 17 or so, right?
Ahh, I see. When did you find out you were adopted? How old are you now, if you don't mind me asking?
Exciting times! Hinduism is a truly beautiful religion. :)
Were you born to Hindu parents, or grandparents then, if you permit me to ask?
    You're welcome. :)

If you want, you can check out the Seekers DIR if you haven't already. I campaigned to get it started so people who are looking for a path can discuss it together.

I'm very interested in hearing your story sometime, if you don't mind. I was reading one thread and it said you used to be Muslim? What attracted you to Hinduism? :)
