Manoah
I was raised in a home with an atheist father and unitarian-universalist mother: one parent believed nothing even as the other believed everything.
As an adult, I overcame alcohol addiction and a destructive lifestyle through faith in Jesus. In the past few years, I have grown increasingly less legalistic and have felt the freedom to experiment with meditation, mantras, tarot cards, runes, and other expressions of spirituality while maintaining my core Christian beliefs. I consider my experiences to be mystical.
Most recently, I have been reading Hindu and Buddhist scriptures and some writings on Perennialism by Huston Smith and Aldous Huxley. Even within the framework of Christian theology, these ideas of a thread of truth in all religions is justified by the concept of general revelation--reason, insights, conscience, and understanding available to all humanity.
