I am Agnostic because I believe that the higher power is unknowable. What could seem like the higher power or supreme being to mortals could be no more than a demon or demigod. The scribes and Pharisees accused Jesus of casting out demons by the prince of demons Beelzebub (Matt.12:24). Christians acknowledge two powers (God & Satan), but who can tell which is which? Like the old Gnostics ( not Agnostics) said, there could be a higher Aeon(realm) above this Aeon and another higher Aeon above that one and another above that. So what is the "ultimate" reality? Gnostic means "one who has special knowledge." Agnostic means "one without knowledge." I am Agnostic because I don't know what the "ultimate" higher power/reality is. I am interested in Secular Humanism, non-theistic religions, August Comte, Unitarian Universalism, Aleister Crowley and Thelema, primitive Gnosticism, the Kabbalah, Cheon Doism, Karl Marx and Socialist schools of thought. I am a Utopian Socialist, I believe that we need to set the pattern that the rest of the world is going to follow. I am interested in communes and classless communities based on mutualism. I firmly believe that only peace can bring people together, I oppose violence . I also believe in looking to science rather than faith for an explanation of most things, but I think that what science cannot explain maybe faith can. I have faith in the good of humanity, and think that if we are going to know God that we have to look within first. That's my meaning of the dictum I borrowed from Aleister Crowley "do what thou will shall be the whole of the law," that everyone should follow their own conscience or guiding spirit.
