The Holy Bottom Burp
I was once religious as a young man (a Christian), very sincere and very enthusiastic about Jesus. If I'm honest it was the bible that turned me into an atheist, the more I read the less I believed. I went down the same route many have gone down before me, trying to save my faith by looking for anything that might support the historical reliability of the bible. My research (I looked for books by Christian authors of course) only convinced me more that this stuff is a man made construct, in the end I just couldn't live the lie going to church while no longer believing. That was a long time ago, these days I'm a grizzled atheist, and a happy humanist. I don't mind saying I am anti theistic these days, Hitchens was right, religion poisons the well. Anything I say or do to weaken religious conviction in other human beings, I consider to be a positive service to my species.
