Hey! Good to see you're back!
It was probably me- I'll take credit even if it wasn't.
Nosferatu is one of my absolute favorites. I rarely recommend remakes but Herzog's 1979 version of Nosferatu is stunning as well. It's really a respectful homage to Murnau's classic yet holds its own.
Off the top of my head I'd definitely recommend these (though some might be more than ten dollars
):
The Haunting- Robert Wise' classic film.
Night of the Demon- Tourneur's 1957 film is great and would be perfect if they just edited out some of the ending.
Haxan- Disturbing, darkly comical, 1922 pseudo-documentary about witch cults and satanism.
Carnival of Souls- Clearly an influence on Romero's Night of the Living Dead. Creepy film.
Eyes Without a Face- Georges Franju's 1960 film.
Kwaidan- Four traditional Japanese ghost stories in this 1964 film. It's quiet and subtle horror, but also one of my favorites.
