5 million years is not a small timeframe. There, consider your argument countered.
I would argue that there isn't enough genetic difference between humans and chimps when taking into account the amount of time our evolutionary paths have had as seperate entities. Generally speaking the only...
That was my point, I don't understand your comment. I don't see how the timeframe is an issue. How much time did it take to get the genetic variance between the various members of the canine family. You know, wolves into domestic dogs? 30000 years? maybe less?
Nothing wrong with that, I just...
And what is the creationist view on this? No wait, don't answer that...I presume that you are kidding. That or you don't actually know the creationist view on this.
Timeframe is not an issue. All it takes is one generation to pass on a mutation. Multiply that by a few thousand generations...
I'm not sure I get this. Why is this an issue?
My original intent was to spark a discussion about human evolution. Seems to be working as far as I'm concerned so get back in gear and drive on :)
The term smoking gun is used to refer to strong evidence not absolute proof. As someone who follows science you should understand that there is no such thing as absolute proof.
The young age of chromosome x is strong evidence for human evolution. True, new information could come to light that...
No worries :).
Quick question for you though...I see you specify your religion as Humanist Agnostic yet you choose to call yourself Gnostic. Isn't that a contradiction?
I think you may be preaching to the converted on this thread. Re-read Sunstones posts and try to understand that he wasn't attacking your beliefs but rather trying to explain the futility of trying to convince those who do not want to be convinced.

I declare s2a the winner by a nose!!
edit - s2a, are you like some kinda prophet or something? You predicted his response exactly. Do you have a brochure I can read?
