    Should Christian’s Celebrate Pagan Festivals

Oh yes all sorts of people come out of the woodwork for Midnight Mass. I may have mentioned on another thread the drunk we had one year - off his face and kept trying tunelessly to sing. The MC, who is a large ex-policeman with a patriarchal ginger beard, had to come down from the sanctuary to...

Gay body waste is what you get if you eat too many Smarties, perhaps?

Though as far as I know the Jesuits had nothing to do with it - they were just convenient bogeymen at the time.

    The two types of Zero

The only thing I know is it is "sifr" in Arabic, from which we get "cipher".

    Should Christian’s Celebrate Pagan Festivals

Presume because even this poster recognises that celebration of the Resurrection is not exactly pagan. But if we're not careful, this will activate @Riders, so I'd better shut up....................;)

    The two types of Zero

I'm not a mathematician but I don't think case B is expressed as zero. It's just "undefined", I think. But perhaps our resident mathematics don, @Polymath257 , may care to comment.

    Should Christian’s Celebrate Pagan Festivals

Agreed, even if we are burning Catholics in effigy. ;) ...............Or should that be Catholic's?...............

Sun created on fourth day ?

Yes, you are missing something. Most Christians view this story as an allegory, not to be taken literally. Like most religious scripture, and like Homer's epics, it dates from several thousand years ago.

Trump ordered to pay nearly 355 million in NY fraud case.

But how would they know, unless they became suspicious and employed separate real estate valuers to check the numbers the Trump organisation gave them? It was systematic fraud over a period of ten years or more. The fact is the numbers were false and that is not allowed in business.

They were victims to the tune of approx $350m, so the judge has decided.

Trump ordered to pay nearly 355 million in NY fraud case.

Doesn't matter. False financial statements in business are fraudulent, as that can have all manner of consequences. Remember Enron? It's a basic principle of how business is regulated. Businesses are not allowed to make false financial statements. Period. As for "repaid in full" yes they were...

    Trivial Facts

Yes my mother used to enjoy a glass of wine at Sunday lunch in Lent on that basis, when she had given up alcohol for Lent. Suppose she could have really pushed the boat out on "Let Up"or "Laetare" Sunday (when rose vestments are worn), though to my recollection she didn't.

    Bye Bye Tories

I wonder how many of them confuse it with Relapse or whatever it is that berk Laurence Fox calls his wacko one man party. I’ve got it - Reclaim. Isn’t it?

    Bye Bye Tories

I think retard as a pejorative noun, a retard, is only a thing in N America. My use of it is intended to be the imperative form of the verb: “Retard!”, came the cry. They seem to want to stop progress and even turn the clock back, to some mythical Agatha Christie age. I toyed with Regress but my...

Will Putin invade Poland if Trump is elected?

The Baltic States are a more likely goal. Think of Kaliningrad and the Suwalki Gap. Those countries already have minority populations of Russian speakers whom Putin could pretend suffer some kind of discrimination and need "protection" from their "Russian brothers". A bit like how the US...
