an old fisherman tries to reinvent himself and escape for a little while

The other day, I got the notion to take up fishing again, and I drove to a public lake where I had fished as a boy. I bought a bunch of fishing tackle at the tackle shop, and made an appointment to rent a bass boat for yesterday afternoon. I drove back there yesterday around 2 p.m. in the...

something about lions … Once upon a time there lived a woman named Alya. She was the medicine woman in her tribe, using herbs and poultices and spirit ways to help her people. Yet she had one flaw: she hated lions, because a lion had killed her father. Her hatred caused her to cast spells...

I am 81+, my son died in the early fall of 1967. The poem came in the spring of 1994. Apologies for my not making that time line more clear.

Only fools rush in where angels fear to tread

but if there were no fools, who’d lead the angels? Right after that poem leaped out of me in the spring of 1994, I felt something huge wiggling into me, it felt wonderful, not of this world. I wept a lot without warning. That went on for about two weeks. I was in the habit of taking a 4-mile...

a trust fund baby’s view of Donald Trump

Since I’m a trust fund baby, I have a different perspective of Donald Trump. What I see is a rich pampered spoiled white brat, who never grew out of it. He and his daddy were white supremacists. In 2016, he was infiltrated and enhanced by a demon, maybe the same demon that infiltrated and...

First take the beam out of your own eye

Debate, discussion, are fine. You pose a very good question, and clearly Jesus in the Gospels prayed to his father in heaven and told other stories do the same, and in that context he did not think he was God, but I think this quote from him is about pointing the finger at ourself, and dealing...
