To expand my thought:
One thing that myself (and others) find useful is the concept of objective and subjective "universes". The "objective universe" is the clockwork of nature; the physical realm. The "subjective universe" is your own.
Understanding the distinction is especially important in...
There's probably some logical explanation for it, like some unconscious reaction, perhaps the onlooker blinked at just the right time, etc.
Since I assume there is no recording, the important thing for you is the understanding and inspiration you may draw from the experience. Even if some sort...
I reject the concepts of sin and salvation as there is nothing inherently "wrong" with us. We are animals and act accordingly, I don't care how altruistic or noble anyone thinks they are.
Interesting, did a search and found a little more. One of his signs says "for those who know their faith is a human creation but still love and practise it".
Ever hear of Christian Atheism, where one embraces the teachings of Jesus without the theistic component?
Would it be useful to take theism out of the equation entirely and see how well aligned you are with Christianity otherwise?
I'm largely grounded in LaVey's Satanism, but am not limited to it as I also find value in certain other LHP concepts. The late Michael Aquino once described Satanism as more of a disposition than a religion, although it qualifies well enough I suppose.
I no longer call myself a Satanist...
This discussion is also relevant to "Left-Hand Path" religion, which has no shortage of self-proclaimed "magi" and "high priests".
Some opinions may be better informed through experience (occasionally supported by various titles or degrees) but ultimately your own opinion is the only one that...
I think there is really only "your path" which can deviate to the "left" or "right" as defined here. When faced with a crossroads, you can't go down two avenues at once.
It's possible to act in seemingly RHP ways with LHP goals in mind, or uphold certain values for your own reasons. But I'm not...
Satanists work with many disparate ideas (including unpopular ones) and interpret them as they may. Eugenics is generally considered to be an old-fashioned idea, but remember that Anton LaVey was born in 1930 and preferred mono over stereo.
Some people seem to take The Satanic Bible way too...
I think it's more in the sense of the weak-minded. Some members of the Church of Satan are disabled, there are people of color, etc. Neo-Nazism is generally frowned upon, from Satanism: The Feared Religion:
It's true that LaVey's Satanism is a synthesis of ideas that are not original. He took...
The idea of world peace makes me want to vomit, especially if it involves worshiping a sky-daddy or believing in prophets. The human race will find unity in its eventual extinction, no gods required.
To really answer the question, I tend to think so. If the sole purpose of Satanism is to point the finger at Christians then that only plays right into their preconceptions. I also don't think organizations should define one's Satanism: I'm rooted in LaVey's philosophy but will practice and...
