    Question on Time

Your guess is as good as mine at this point.

    Question on Time

It would appear some ancient civilizations did have ten months while others had twelve. Those who had twelve months in all likelihood based this on the twelve constellations.

Does anyone else have any insight they'd wish to share on this matter?

    Question on Time

I always wondered if there were civilizations that had a different measure of a week. That is really interesting.

    Question on Time

So their year would begin around October?

    Question on Time

I was observing that there are two common measures by which we measure the start of a new day. One is at midnight when the new day literally begins, and the other is when we wake up in the morning to begin the new day. I was thinking that different religions or civilizations in history may have...

    A question about poltergeists.

I actually learned in Torah about a type of demon with similar characteristics to that of a poltergeist. This lead me to consider that poltergeists might not be real at all and are in actuality this demon. That being said, i would advise my friend to get out of the house immediately since there...

    Did the Amalekites ever exist?

It would seem that there is no archeological evidence for the existence of Amalek. However, I'm sure there are many ancient civilizations which we have no evidence for today that they ever existed either. The lack of evidence doesn't mean they never existed. That being said, some form of...

Question about telekinesis and day dreaming

I don't think anyone knows how to answer your question. Maybe some additional understanding of the rules of telekinesis in this context would help. In reply: i think it would depend on the level of the Telekinetic. If i were powerful enough i might be able to control myself so my daydreaming...

    The Meaning Of Heaven

I should have mentioned that there are two different Gardens that we learn about in Jewish teachings; one lower and one higher. According to this the lower one is literally in our world and the higher one is not. So the one i was describing is the lower one. I know very little about the higher...

Do you believe in a literal devil?

I cannot comment on most of this; it may be true, i just haven't learned about it. All i can say is that what i was stating is not what i heard from other Jews, i learned it for myself inside. I would be happy to provide my sources if you wish.

    The Meaning Of Heaven

The Garden of Eden is described as bearing a resemblance to the world we live in, having its own trees, leaves, etc. Some stories indicate that special people can come to and fro between the Garden and this. One story tells of a man who collected the leaves of the Garden in his coat, but when he...

    The Meaning Of Heaven

In Jewish teachings we have many descriptions of the Spiritual World, but all of them are descriptions in terms that we can comprehend. It is made abundantly clear that there is a limit to our ability to truly comprehend such things in their fulness.

    The Meaning Of Heaven

I guess this means there's no explicit reference in the Bible to a spiritual place called Heaven or something where the dead wait. Okay.

    The Meaning Of Heaven

Okay, putting the resurrection aside, where do our souls go when we die?
  18. Elliott

    The Meaning Of Heaven

Okay, but you're not talking about the soul postmortem, your talking about life after the resurrection [unless i missed something].

    The Meaning Of Heaven

If "otherworldly heavens" don't exist, then where do our souls go when we die?

Do you believe in a literal devil?

I have no basis. So far as i know, the titles of Devil and Lucifer are exclusively Christian in origin. It just seems as though these names are interchangeable with Satan. Now that you brought it to my attention, perhaps i have been mistaken about this.
