    Worshipping/Revering Gods/Goddesses from different pantheons

This will probably sound stupid, but - have you asked them? That's generally my first inclination, because I find that when I ask a human who's wiser than I, they tell me to go and ask my guides/gods anyway, so I may as well do it in the first place. :D I don't know much about Asatru, though...

Monogamy in Humans: Natural or Not?

Apologies if this has already been discussed - the article is admittedly from July last year. Still, I thought it would be interesting to post here: Monogamy unnatural for our sexy species - CNN.com I found this refreshing; but then, I guess that's stereotypical of us pagan scientifically...

If I am Not my Usual Self

I had a 37-year old patient with spina bifida not long ago; he'd endured multiple surgeries and infections, and his condition was more debilitating than that of many others - nonetheless, his enjoyment of life was obvious. From your description, it sounds like Jack's prognosis is as good as can...

Why do so many people dislike math?

Some people have a passion for math. For others (myself included) it's an often annoying and/or boring means to a fascinating end. For still others, it's irrelevant. The same can be said for pretty much anything. A lot of people find history irrelevant, for instance, but in many...

Does the Original Theory of Evolution say anything about origin of life?

If I had not already frubal'ed you a few minutes ago, I would do so now!

Why do so many people dislike math?

Speaking for myself, I don't like math because it doesn't interest me and I'm not particularly good at it. I score well on exams, but I only learn enough to get me by in the things I really like - including science. Math for me exerts a special kind of frustration when it's not going well...

    Post your pic!

Thanks, Songbird :) - the moss *is* really amazing here, I'm told because of the fog patterns in weather. There isn't much rain, but the redwoods create a rainforest climate in the hills by trapping the moisture in the air. Whatever the cause, it's lovely. :D

    Why the crucifixion?

Very true, the Septuagint is as reliable as you'll get. Kudos for learning Koine! I did the bare minimum with it, and forgot even that, I think... :o Cool! So what function, if any, do you see the crucifixion fulfilling theologically? Oh, good. The more, the merrier! :D

    Its getting worse!!!

Adding my voice to the rest - seek professional help. Emotional or mental disorders often have a source in the endocrine system, so they're like any other thing that can go a bit off with the body. Chemicals can easily become a little out of balance, and may be felt in sudden surges of...

    Why the crucifixion?

OK - haven't heard that exact construct before. But aren't you hinging an awful lot on semantics? What of the original Hebrew? True that I judge Christendom for its sins, and I accept as I stated earlier that there is a minority of Christians throughout its history who have been valuable...

    Why take religion so seriously?

True - it appears from the NT gospels that of the main Jewish sects in that day, he would have been more in agreement with the Pharisees than the rest; i.e. the Sadducees (since according to those texts, Jesus made it pretty clear he believed in the resurrection etc) or the Essenes. It was...

    Pagan Book Suggestions

Morrigan The link above is as good a start as any, gives a broad-spectrum overview of the Morrighan as seen in history, mythology, and so forth. (Plus it's from my order :D) The way I experience her does correspond with some of what's in this paper and found in other sources, but of course we...

    The Random, Meaningless Announcements Thread!

Exactly - that's what I expected, but as Engyo said, the selection is apparently just that sucky in NE PA (AND the supermarkets are just that AWESOME in CA! :rainbow1:).

    Are you a hugger?

YESSS! Can I hug you for that? :D
  19. bain-druie

    Are you a hugger?

I really enjoy hugs, except from creepers. Creepers don't get close enough for one - or if they do, they never do it again. :cold: I don't give hugs to people whose body language tells me they like their personal space uninvaded without specific invitation; but I've given lots of hugs to...

    Voodoo

Voodoo is IMO much like any indigenous religion; it has cultural and historical value, if nothing else. Do I believe their deities are real? Sure, as real as mine or yours or anyone's. Maman Brigitte is particularly compelling to me, since her history gets mixed up in our fire goddess Brighid...
