    Free Will and the Soul/Spirit.

    That seems Obvious to me....

    Happy Birthday, Jayhawker Soule!

Many happy returns of the day, Jay - good health and good fortune for the next year!

    Free Will and the Soul/Spirit.

I am not at all sure that we are talking about the same subject. Personally, I believe that our choices of behaviour (whether good or bad) come from the thoughts in our minds (brains), there is no separation of good and bad thoughts between the brain and the soul/spirit - why do you assume that...

    Religious education?

You may have a point, but I feel that education includes preparing youngsters for social interaction; surely a brief understanding of the main religions can only help understanding and promotes social etiquette?

    Free Will and the Soul/Spirit.

I don't understand your reasoning - if we do have a "soul/spirit"(which I believe we do), that part of us is not "accessible" by our consciousness(unless , as some believe, we can access it to some extent through meditation).... Would not that mean that punishments for crimes committed are a...

    Westgate shopping mall shooting

That leaves an even fouler taste in my mouth - but then, it is a well-known fact that converts are all the more vociferous...

What makes us change our beliefs in times of need?

I was going to answer that my beliefs have never "changed in times of need" - but, to be truthful, when I was a teenager (having always believed in a deity), I went through some very bad times, and I - literally- "formulated" a belief system in that allowed me to survive (without suffering...

    God's Purpose?

I don't "understand" God - I don't suppose any mortal can comprehend the idea of God; to answer all your questions, is, IMO, impossible.

    Is nature morally wrong?

Why we got onto the subject, I can't for the life of me remember, but once when I was chatting to my doctor, he rather surprised me with his take on prostitution. He mooted the point that this was a case in point where the use of judgemental terms (right, wrong) are so much better when...

    Religious education?

In England, both my sons were taught "Religious Education", which was a basic understanding of the main world religions (aged about 15, if I remember rightly)

does owning a pet seem sinful?

True, where I think a "sin" may have been committed is when humans have bred certain what they consider to be aesthetically pleasing (to them, rather than the dog) traits. So many highly in-bred dogs suffer from health problems just because the breed has been "fine tuned" by breeders for the...

    Saying Vs. Following

Of course, because we are fallible humans. The higher one sets one's heights, the lower we fall; I wish I knew the answer...

    Belief in the Trinity

I think yours is the closest reason to the one I should give, in support of my belief in the trinity.

Moment when you feel you might not be human

Like a few people here, I have often felt that way; in my case, it is related to depression with a certain degree of Asperger's. All I can say to you who feel this way is that you are not alone, and you have my sympathy....I find feeling this way really quite lonely.

    Post your pet

Post your pet? .....oh, I see what you mean ...I was going to ask for the address! We have "adopted" a stray cat who calls in for food (she is terribly nervous); we renamed her "barbarian" when we saw her catch and mutilate a pigeon.......:o

I would have thought that some behavioural aspects of schizophrenia could easily appear as spirit possession....

Why does my God allow children to die? Is he evil?

God is my judge - as a Christian. I would certainly never consider myself to be a judge of his actions. Whilst I have no hope of understanding his reasons and motives, I have to accept that these horrific events occurred - why? I haven't a clue. I do, however believe (because that is a innate...

    How moral this is?

I am not sure that I agree that it is rude to stare. My view is that when someone insists on sporting pictorial or verbal messages on tee shirts, they are, by their actions making a statement. That statement is directed at the public, and the public can hardly be blamed for feeling the need...

Why does my God allow children to die? Is he evil?

To which I would respond - without knowing exactly and factually - to what you refer, as being something that has happened throughout the history of every kind of life here upon earth. Again, I would posit that life on Earth is to live through "The valley of the shadow of death", and I...
