I think Gandhi was spiritual rather then religious! I used to believe religion was a great thing to have, but over time my "religion" turned into spirituality, a sort of oneness with my Creator, and I am much the better for it.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't marriage between two people, and the Rabbi, Priest, Minister just there to wittness it? If that is true, two people can marry same sex or not, it's a personal thing between the two people and God, at least as far as I am concerned.
As a gay man who was in a mixed marrage (man/women) for 23 years and who has three wonderful children by that marriage, and now in a 15 year relationship with another man who had two chioldren from his "mixed marriage" an who I raised from th3e time they were12 and 14 years of age, I can tell...
My comments were not ment to be "pearls of wisdom", just thoughts as I shave, and wonder why people are loseing their homes in forclosures, young men die in an un-winnable war, jobs are going over seas where folks will work 14 hours a day for a bag of rice, police (at least here in Florida) seem...
And the end is not in sight, Americans will vote for a Republican again. Why? Because of so many people I've talked to who would not vote for a women,(Clinton) or a black man (Obama), it's not so much who the people vote for, it's the reason they find to not vote Democratic. Me, I will vote...
I recall reading in scripture some one saying that "it is better to spill your seed in the belly of a whore then it is to spill it upon the ground" since they had words for the womb, but used Belly, I can only think of one way "seed" would enter the belly. I believe it to mean that love is to...
As an old gay man who was once in a mixed (male female) marriage, I'm finding this whole discussion very interesting and hope it continues. It's also interesting to see that those who believe that homosexuality is sinful seem to post remarks that make it seem that they get word from Gods mouth...
I was also brought up Catholic, it was back in the days when Mass was in Latin, and meat forbidden on fridays. I've never had a problem with the evolution theory, I tend to go along with St. Johns account of creation. In the beginning there was the word and the word was with God and the word...
Why is it do you suppose that God destroyed Sodom but allowed Lot, his wife, and two daughters to escape? If you turn the page and read on, Lots wife is turned to a piller of sale for looking back,(yearned for the old life) His daughters get Lot drunk and engage in sex with him. I've been...
My thanks to all who answered my question concerning medications or lack of them and Catholic teaching, I kinda sorta came to the same conclusions after talking to another person I respect. Again, thank you all.
As far as I know the last time a Pope made an infallible statement was when he proclaimed the
assumption of the Virgin Mary" Not every word from a Pope is considered infallible, he must speak from the chair of Peter to Rome and to the world and pronounce it as
dogma correct me if I'm...
When I was 16, I was brilliant, at 25 no one could tell me anything, at 50 I noticed I didn't have all the answers, at 65 I found out most of what I knew or accepted was the result of some other persons conclusions about life, now at 67 I'm for the first time learning on my own about a lot of...
At my age I can honestly say that every day I give thought to my own death and how I will be judged. I think that like the sage in the old testament said, I will think or say Lord if you will count our sins, who will stand it? I hope that I am correct in believing that Christ died so that my...
I've a question I'd like imput on. A person has had tripple by-pass operation, put on many blood thinning medicines, then a year later had a stent implanted and perscribed even more medications with the warning that if you dont take them you die. The question is, what if this person who before...
