    ᚦᛟᚱ Beats Christ

It's not really a contest, is it? Many so-called heathens I could do without.

    Any Ásatrú initiation?

You might have been initiated in your teens by 'knee-sitting' in some communities, but otherwise it's not harder than introducing yourself to the gods, maybe make an altar, start sacrificing to them.

    Runic Script Writing

Another option are horisontal rune binds, as seen here: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/7/74/Samstavsrunb%C3%A5t.JPG/1280px-Samstavsrunb%C3%A5t.JPG

What gods/esses do you call on for protection in these uncertain times?

Here in Denmark we regularly sacrifice to Ejr/Eir, goddess of healing. We know she sits at Freja's knee, and may actually be an aspect of her - but the point is, she's a master of healing, and will help us turn the tide.

Giants and Gods/Goddesses in Norse belief

The giants are much more connected to the material world than, for example, the aesir. See the myth of Thor's fishing trip, for example. The wise Hymir, knowing that actually catching Jormungandr could bring about the end of the world, cuts the fishing rope before Thor can slay the serpent. Such...

Is such a thing as the Great Spirit in Ásatrú?

There can definitely be a 'great spirit' or 'great spirits' within heathenry, though, I would argue, not within the worship of the aesir specifically (barring, perhaps, syncretic religions that see Odin, Njord or Frej as the great male principle). Within the vanir or other gods, however, that's...

    Who is Jesus to Non-Christians?

Interesting and well put questions! I will endeavor to answer them as I understand them. Like many members of polytheist pagan faiths, I don't necessarily not believe Jesus was an incarnation of the Abrahamic God, nor do I not necessarily believe the Abrahamic God does not exist, I just don't...

Are We In Fact Born In Hell?

There are more gnostic faiths and more dualist "heresies" than the cathars, maybe work out from those?

Are We In Fact Born In Hell?

Chill out, Salvatore :) (Gods help me, I love that movie, in all it's campy drama overload) This is more or less the vedic (or buddhist/hindu) take on things. I suppose the faiths are not so different after all..

Are We In Fact Born In Hell?

Early christendom had this belief as well. Gnostics, cathars, albigensians and others sect thought there were two creators, a spiritual realm of good things made by God, and an inherently corrupt material realm created by a negative force.

    Does Tesla Not Understand Humans?

That's what you get when you let a drug-addled diamond heir decide he understands car design better then the engineers he's hired.

    Does Tesla Not Understand Humans?

Tesla is run by a carnival charlatan who keeps writing checks with his mouth his company can't cash. It's only rampant corruption and legal wrangling that keeps that ****house of a 'auto' company afloat..

    The Gods: Real or Archetypes?

I'm not sure I expressed it clearly, then. I'm saying that the gods have been different things to different people in different time periods - not through their actions, but through the historical needs of their communities and the political developments around them. Odin, for example, was not...

    The Gods: Real or Archetypes?

Not to play Loke's Advocate here, but the reason there's "no issues" is that the canon was all written at the same time, wherein the gods had one specific portfolio. Religious historians are pretty sure all gods have changed names, jobs and even been split up or laid together over time...

    OT: Anyone going to Midgårdsblot?

Indescribable! I shall try to do it justice with this video of armoured guys in a moshpit: Viking moshpit at Midgårdsblot 2019 in... - FlamesJocke89 Photography | Facebook No, seriously. There was a large opening blót, where blood was offered to a statue to Frej, and it ended with a large...

White Supremacists Have Weaponized an Imaginary Viking Past. It's Time to Reclaim the Real History

That's a false equivalency. Left wing extremists can opt to employ violence or not to further their goals, to right wing extremism, violence against immigrants, gays and socialists IS the end goal. Their belief is the extermination of what they perceive as subhumans, left wing extremism has no...

White Supremacists Have Weaponized an Imaginary Viking Past. It's Time to Reclaim the Real History

No, I can also help protect LBGT folks and people of colour from the depredations of völkisch violence. Speaking words do nothing to curb the expansion of white supremacist ideology in heathenry, a problem that is growing every day. I will fight them in whatever practical way I can, because they...

Why do people think that electrons in atoms are tiny beads flying in circles around the nucleus?

Because the nucleus surrounded by little "planetary rings' of electrons is still a commonly used symbol for atoms in many places. I think schools are just now converting to the "electron cloud" model, which is a bit more accessible.
