    Brazilian Ju Jitsu grading question

    I don't do Brazilian Ju Jitsu nor do I intend to. However, I read that it takes at least 6 years to obtain the black belt (2 years to get blue, 42 months to get purple, 5 years to get brown and 6 years to get black). Most people get their black belts in 8 years. My question is how it differs...
