Islam is keeping a strong family unit, community and beliefs and it's causing it to grow very fast. Right now there is not much critical history or counter apologetics because in Islamic countries it's not allowed.
Individualism has it's ups and downs and the West is used to freedom of choice - be conservative or liberal, keep tradition or do your own thing. In Islam it's argued strongly against saying if you allow people to do what they want families end up not recognizing each other they become so different. But they are fighting against modernism and can only isolate people so much. I think eventually Islam will catch up to Christianity where you get all types and the apologetics won't survive certain standards of logical thinking. So it will be diverse, some fundamentalists and some secular.

Armin Navabi is one ex-Muslim who is working in the media on secularism and against the Islamic apologetics.
I would like to see him debate Mohammed Hijab.
