“Why are atheists so interested in God?”

Its the ones with the science degrees that have their noses in the air...these are the worst. The condescension is palpable.
Can you honestly not see the hypocrisy in your statement here? And what about me? Where would you put me on the "condescension scale"? Do you suppose I have a science degree or not?

Its the ones with the science degrees that have their noses in the air...these are the worst. The condescension is palpable. The wannabe's just hang on to their coattails in the hope that you will think that they are smart too......it doesn't work. Once you undo their arguments at grass roots level, their house of cards falls in a heap. It is not until you see how much suggestion features in evolutionary thinking that you realize that this is a monumental edifice with absolutely no solid foundation. Those who swallow the lie don't notice that suggestion and inference are not the same as factual evidence. Science takes small amounts of factual evidence and uses them as a springboard to suggest all kinds of things that they cannot prove. If you can't prove something, it isn't a fact...it is a belief. So to me science is a belief system based on on real evidence, and yet scientists have the temerity to accuse us ID proponents of believing fantasy....fairy-tales. Science actually has more than we do.

Out of interest, do you think science does this across the board, or specifically in the area of evolutionary biology only?

You wont find any with the main detail, the "morons" bit.

Seems someone cant make a point witjout a fairy tale,
like the phony quote with "moron".

Funny that, with god, bible, angels and all reality
(presumed to be) on the JW side. How would
one account for such a thing?
Not the JW (Jehovah's Witnesses) side, necessarily, just Jehovah's (Psalms 83:18) side.

Please, Deeje, let’s be more precise. What you’re talking about is popular science, which I’ll admit is all we ever see on all sides in media stories and Internet stories. That needs to be distinguished from the kind of science that deserves its good reputation, and made the word “science” and its derivatives popular as a way of trying to intimidate and shame people.

People cherishing and spreading their ignorance
and falsehoods may find themselves in a shameful
position. So, blame someone else.

I'm with the atheists on this one. Science is a great moderator of religious fanaticism.

Read the last six lines of the op, check for attitude expressed.

For me, the whole OP renders in 6 lines (browser and resolution specific I guess) but I simply don't see it. Are you sure you're not reading something into it?

Umm....if adults believe in what you would classify as fairy tales, you think they are smart?
I think they are mistaken. Smart people can be mistaken. Smart people are not afraid of being mistaken. Smart people don't need to denounce those with contrary opinions as either foolish or arrogant (that cuts both ways in the evolution vs creationism war). Smart people don't need to be afraid of those who are formally better educated than they are. Smart people don't need to despise people who are obviously smarter than themselves. Smart people learn from those who are smarter than they are and are perfectly happy to defer to smarter people on matters they need to learn more about. Smart people do not despise learning. Whether I think someone is smart or not is not a function of what I think about their beliefs - its more about their approach to knowledge and learning and their attitude towards alternate opinions. Does that help at all?

One ignorant or foolish thing I’ve seen people saying about atheists is some variation of “If atheists really don’t believe in God, then why are they so interested in Him?” This is sometimes followed by saying or insinuating that they must secretly really believe in God, or have some need or desire to.

Maybe what they’re so interested in is not God himself, but the popularity of believing in some God-with-a-capital-G or other? Maybe the reason they’re so interested in that is because of the popularity of using some God-with-a-capital-G as an excuse for cruelty, vandalism, violence and oppression?

ETA: Including vandalizing forums, and intrusive, invasive and oppressive behavior in forums.
often times the nonbeliever points his finger at me and claims.....I am afraid of dying
and my belief is nothing more than a comfort crutch

not so

and I suspect such postings are evidence of fear on the part of the nonbeliever
that Something Greater is waiting for the last breath
and will be standing over them as the spirit they have become....stands from the dead carcass

they fear what they do not know

Why wouldn't atheists be interested in a God that knows everything? I mean, duh.
