10 Greatest Guitar Players

Gunny

Semper Fi
In your opinion who are the 10 greatest guitar players of all-time?

In no specific order except for the first one who is the God of all guitar players.

- Stevie Ray Vaughan
- Eric Clapton
- Tony Iommi
- Jimi Hendrix
- Jimi Page
- Carlos Santana
- David Gilmour
- Angus Young
- Van Halen
- Jeff Beck

Songbird

SRV tops my list too.

Orianthi caught my eye, and I bet she'll be a legend. While I have MJ guitarists on my mind, there's Jennifer Batton. Also a fan of Joan Jett.

Fans of Satriani or Vai might like Allan Holdsworth if that's a new name.

I think these days I listen for originality as much as technique. I find Vai/Satriani to be super-technicians but I'm not sure about originality.

Hendrix probably remains the giant that other electric guitarists stand on.

Of the young whipper-snappers, Ben Weinman blows my mind - technique and originality in perfect combination.

Personally, I think the guitar is an instrument, and is supposed to compliment a song, but many guitarists hijack a tune with their giant ego's.

I prefer guitarists that blend with the song, enhances a tune, and create a mood, or feeling without boring the pants off everybody.
