For the life of me I cannot think of a single thing that Hill Hill did, while Secretary of State that was totally awesome. What did she actually accomplish? I am hard pressed to think of another person less deserving at a chance to occupy the top slot on the planet. Mind you, after 8 years of Obummer, Putin's cat will prolly seem like progress.
It was never going to eliminate racism, but it did put down one hell of a marker...
Thinking back to the early 60s, that a black man could become President represents a remarkable advance in American consciousness.
True, he may not have achieved all that was expected of him - I remember the almost Messianic euphoria around his election win - in truth, I think those expectations were wholly unrealistic, but the country has to be the better for it, even if 'you' don't agree with his political stance.

Way to go....taking too seriously my mocking of another poster's pollyanna politics.
Anyway, I don't believe in electing someone because they would symbolize a change.

That would make sense if there had been a previous black president. The same goes for Hillary and the talk of first female president. Should her sexuality be mentioned?
I'm glad we have these "extremists" to keep pols like McCain from doing even more
damage. Oh, if only they were more extreme....that is, my kind of extreme.
Anyway, I don't worry that Hillary might get the Dem not, & possibly become prez.
If the Dems don't run her, they'll run someone like her. Maybe Biden? Oh, joy!
Nothing gets done with that kind of extremism. That's the sad part. I believe people need to keep McCain in check before he puts us in another pointless war but I do give him some props for wanting to actually govern. I can't say the same for Ted Cruz (McCarthy Lite)....etc...
Yeah, Dems want Hillary but Biden is fine where he is. After this he should retire and spend time with family. I don't think he ready for this.
Well Hillary is not a Republican so most likely she will win. One has to keep in mind that Republicans are essentially the Christian equivalent to Islamists. Someone had to say it

No, because I know there are at least 2 sides to the republican coin. I think democrats probably think more alike than republicans. For starters, the republicans are fighting between each other (TP vs. RINOS) Completely different visions.

The "fact" of the matter is there is in fighting within the tea party/republican camp. I'm not sure why you would even deny this. Shucks the Chris Christy smack down he gave to Rand Paul should be evidence enough....but then there's more. The recent news of how a small faction within the party wanting to shutdown the government, because they can't get their way, is playing out in town hall meetings across the country...now that this New Do Nothing Congress is on a one month vacation...(must be nice!)
Party elders appear increasingly concerned -- alarmed, even -- by an upstart effort by a new band of conservative lawmakers who want to shut down the federal government to protest the president's signature health care law, Obamacare.
A nasty, name-calling spat between Tea Party conservatives and older, more moderate Republican senators is playing out in public this week, fueling a battle over the best way to kill President Barack Obama's landmark healthcare law. Senators usually reserve for private conversations words such as "silly", "dumb," "dishonest" and "feckless" when referring to ideas being floated by members of their own political party.
I thing as of right now Hillary is by far the favorite to win the 2016 election. Not even really a question. It doesn't mean she will win and we have 3 more years and a lot can change. But here is what I think on the 16 reasons
1. Madame President: A Great Social Movement in the Making
A great social movement to elect the first Madame President is gathering wind and will reach sustained hurricane strength on November 5, 2014the day after the midterm elections and the official start of the 2016 presidential campaign..........
She is a major social movement in the making. There is a revival of the femnism movement in the last 2-3 years. And its getting more and more powerful every month it seems. Not to mention the republican party as a whole has really proven itself to be anti-woman with several laws and with their overall attitude. Things like Todd Akin and a few others have also showered the right wing party as even worse than it already is on women's rights. It also has less than 1/4th of the total number of women in congress. So there is that to consider (even though they technically have more people overall than democrats)
2. The Media Is Ready to Crown a Queen
Hillary, the first female presidential nominee of a major party, will be anointed by the media, Hollywood, and pop culturejust as they anointed the junior senator from Illinois in 2008. ..........
Kinda true. The media does like these kinds of things. Don't think for a second Obama's skin tone didn't affect the tone he was spoken of in the Media.
3. Groupthink: Its Her Time, and She Deserves It
Between now and 2016, listen as political pundits exclaim, Its her time, or She deserves it.
Long-suffering Hillary, who was publicly humiliated by her cheating husband and then triumphed over adversity by being elected to the U.S. Senate in 2000. Long-suffering Hillary, who was defeated by her own party for the presidential nomination in 2008, and then further rejected by Obama to be his running mate.............
I don't really agree that anyone "deserves" to be president. But there are people who will be swayed by this argument.
4. Organization the Obama Way
Hillarys campaign-in-waiting, the Ready for Hillary PAC, is readying itself to turn into her official campaign as soon as Madame General signs the battle order.
Some top-notch Obama campaign talent, Jeremy Bird and Mitch Stewart, have already been hired to build an organization similar to President Obamas two nearly flawless, state-of-the-art campaigns.........
Also true. Democrats in the recent years, especially on the higher levels, have proved their campaigning to be nearly flawless. Obama only had one messup and that was his "you didn't build that" line.
5. Barrels of Money
For the 2012 presidential campaign, both candidates eventually raised a billion dollars. But Obama had the advantage of early money and put it to great use, negatively defining and attacking Romney throughout the spring of 2012......
Hillary already has phenomenal amounts of monetary support and she hasn't even declared her candidacy yet. So...true?
6. The Electoral College is Slanted Toward Hillary and the Democrats
Just how much of an advantage will the Electoral College offer Hillary in 2016?
Here are some startling facts:
In 2012 the final Electoral College results were 332 for Obama and 206 for Romney. If Romney had won the battleground states of Florida (29 votes), Ohio (18 votes), and Virginia (13 votes), Obama would still have been reelected but by acloser margin of 272 to 266........
The truth is there are more people who vote democrat than republican. That is the way the tides have changed over the last few years. Red states are turning green and green states are turning blue. North Carolina who was once a state that was a huge battle ground has increased in Democratic support drastically in the past 8 years. Florida, my home state, is increasingly more democratic and with the exception of the Re-count madness of the 2000 election has almost consistantly voted democratic.
To put things in perspective for everyone, the republican party has only won one popular vote for presidential election in the past 30 years I think.
7. Hillary Will Have Either Symbolic or No Primary Opposition
The only reason why ambitious power players like New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo or Maryland Gov. Martin OMalley might challenge Hillary to a primary is to increase their own national name recognition with the goal of landing on Hillarys VP shortlist. (The battle to top that shortlist will be the real Democratic primary of 2016.) Not having a real primary will be a tremendous advantage for Hillary, thus freeing her up to concentrate on the general-election battle while the Republicans are still battling each other............
Actually there will be some major problems for her. If Chris was able to run she would have some major competition. But you are right. The republican primary will never let him pass.
8. The Hispanic Voting Bloc Is Hillarys to Lose
In 2012 the Republican Party was shaken to the core after Romney lost Hispanic voters to Obama by a lopsided margin of 71 percent to 27 percent.
Now remember, the Ready for Hillary PAC has already hired some key Obama managers and field organizers who helped produce those outstanding results. Certainly part of their new job will be to ensure that the fast-growing Hispanic population continues to be a loyal Democratic voting block...........
The republican party tends to be the anti-party. The anti-homosexual, the anti-woman, the anti-minority. It comes from their core base which is middle class southern whites. That is the unshakeable core of the party. They have also tied religion to their political standpoint so much that they cannot loose this point.
