Actually if you compare our overall tax rate with other industrialized countries, are taxes are significantly lower.

Medicare operates at significantly greater efficiency than private insurance companies. Secondly, are you willing to privatize our armed services? Social Security? eliminate FDIC? Imagine if they had been as such when our economy took a noser like it did in 2008-9. Can you imagine the absolute panic that would have set in?
I'm certainly not opposed to private investing and private operations, but there are certain areas whereas we'd be playing with fire if we went that route.
