25-Year-Old Woman Stoned to Death in Broad Daylight in Pakistan

How is that unrealistic?
If one prays to a God of peace and forgiveness, then goes out and stones their daughter to death over such a trivial thing, clearly they believe their God approves, and logic follows their religion is not one of peace to begin with.
They cant have it both ways, consider theirselves to be of a peaceful religion and then murder their own child over a word called honor.
The whole country revolves around these barbaric laws.
The whole country is highly religious.
How come when priests molest boys, we can recognize that they are going against their religious beliefs, but not when it comes to muslims?
We label it culture.
Doesn't even make sense.
Holy books say "thou shall not kill"
they do not say "thou shall not kill unless its for honor and culture"
Nonetheless, we see that Muslims in some countries do such evil things, & Muslims in other countries
don't. Thus, the problem is dependent on something other than religion. Regarding priests who
assault children, the religious leaders did cover up those crimes, so they didn't think it too wrong.

So you cause an extreme amount of pain in order to prevent something that may or not happen in the first place? Why is it any of your concern what people do with each other? STDs are a health problem. You can't whip them away. This is sick thinking.

Also, do you mean "lashing" or do you really mean "slashing"?

STD spread by sexual relationship, so as to protect the society, punishment should be a Deterrent.

Slashing or lashing, what the difference.

STDs are a public health problem and can only be solved by public health campaigns to encourage and teach people about sexual health matters. You're not going to solve anything by beating people.

"Slashing" denotes cutting people with a knife.

Please do not insult dogs in such a way. A dog would not do that to its pup.

Well you are right on this. I should have said shark since sharks are one of the only predators that not only kill their mates in refusal of sex but also slaughter and eat their young. Younglings even eat their own kind while in the womb

Not to derail this, but they cover it up because they truly believe God has forgiven the abuser, that and the whole thing is an embarrassment to the church, they are supposed to be holy and setting examples.
Lets hope the new Pope changes that and the sicko's are held accountable.

About culture, would a muslim that moved to a different country adapt to their culture if it went against their God or would they not participate in said ways?
Would a Christian move to islam, and take part in these barbaric laws too?
A true Christian would not, it goes against God.

What about these barbaric laws, do they actually go against their god or not, the muslims?
No one seems to wish to open that can of worms.

It has taken me a long time to understand what Dawkins, Hitchens and such were trying to explain and since I came to these forums, it quite obvious now.
I could never be atheist though, because I believe in the afterlife.

i don't know how you guys come to religion at a sudden? what that killing of women has to do with religion? that wasn't a religious issue at all, read the story again if you don't understand. should I accuse all atheists for killing of six people and wounding 13 others in California? that is ridiculous.

Scripture is flexible, that's for sure.

Is that a No True Scotsman I spy?

Do the laws go against their religion? That would depend upon the interpretation.
I can't say, since I don't read such stuff. (Better things to do with my time.)

Oh, well...atheism isn't for everyone.
