2nd Baha'i World Congress, Day 4

Truthseeker

Non-debating member when I can help myself
Yesterday, I was looking up other youth conferences after seeing a video of one yesterday and stumbled into complete videos of all 4 days of the 2nd World Congress in New York in 1992. I never got there because we had a 4 year old autistic kid called Michael that we felt we had to take care of. At about 1 hour and 20 minutes into it there is an address by David Ruhe at the World Center in the presence of all the members of the Universal House of Justice. i would ask people to go to that point at least and see that address. When I went on pilgrimage in 1982 I was so impressed by David Ruhe. I was thinking of him when I wrote a kind of poem, though it doesn't rhyme after I went on pilgrimage called "Future Visions II". Here it is:

In this land lives a man whose true and ready pen is his
sword, who wields this sword with justice and precision, piercing
the veils which separate men from the sovereign Truth. Refinement
is a jewel in the firmament of his character, and fidelity and
humility characterize his actions.

From the household of a noble and fiery lady wafts the
sweet melodies that delight the ear, for this woman lives in the
realm of eternal ecstasy, beyond the reach of all sorrow, hearing
only the pure and sweet strains of the one Voice, from which she,
with gratitude, love and humility, derives the melodies and
harmonies that drive men mad.

On the Mountain of God lives a man steadfast and true to
the end, never swerving to the right or left of God's purpose,
yet always in remembrance of his evanescence before God, his own
limitations, and his own ignorance before the ultimate mystery of
all strands of causation. On this Mountain, such as he carves out
of the rock of the earth a new creation, one that will endure for
millennia
.
Within this universal system travels a wayfarer, circling
the globe and beyond, searching, and finding, a trace of the
Friend in every face, as he approaches that Radiant horizon,
bathed in ineffable mystery, finding gems of joy along the path
that never ends. From such is weaved a web of light that circles
and binds the earth together.

Praise be to the martyr, for she it is that remained
firm, never deviating from the path of God, however much the
sovereigns exerted their tyrannous rule over her, of those who
supposed themselves the representatives of God amongst men tried
to dissuade her with their malice. She it is, who, her face
beaming with light, content with the pleasure of her Lord, and
manifesting the command of God, became one of the rocks upon
which the decaying edifice of the old civilization crumbled, and
one of the foundation stones upon which was built the new world
order.

Alas for the man that has turned his back on God, and on
his own true self. Vainly he moves his empty husk into the black
of night, tasting of the bitter fruits of the tree of
repudiation, seeking to validate negation and justify his
wretched condition. Even this is denied him, as he serves, as the
shadow that defines the qualities of light.

From the influence of such people rises forth the age of
gold, in which the heavens tremble with power, glory, and
munificence, and nary a word may be said which does not reflect
the will of their Lord.

The third paragraph, which starts with "On the Mountain of God" is about David Ruhe.

It also includes an address from Ruhiyyih Khanum after this address.
