I would blame it all on the toll booth guy just to have somebody to vent to but we don't have a toll booth guy. :D

I wish . :( Even with exchange , it would be around $5.20 U.S. a gallon here . And we supply the U.S. with close to 40% of their energy ... go figure .

Still very cheap on a world scale, so there is plenty of scope for more rises to come.

I don't really want to translate that into what we pay here; but I suppose we do shorter journeys................:(

At least you guys HAVE gas! They're shutting down all of the gas stations around here because they aren't getting any new shipments. New Orleans had a lot of refineries that got shut down with Katrina.

2.99 here- IF only I would have had the foresight to buy loads of gas when it was 25 cents:)(And was alive or course)

There's a bit of a panic here... lots of people think we're about to run out. We're in a small area, but there was such chaos at the gas station because people heard they were about to raise prices. It's almost $3 (I think about 2.89), and there are rumors flying about how it's going to be higher, that it's going to be rationed, there are people jacking up prices for profit... it's crazy.

It's funny Rob, toll collectors are still getting remarks from disgruntled patrons about our recent toll increase, maybe they will direct their angers towards the gas pumps and give us a week off.

2006 Toyota Prius, 2006 Toyota Highlander, 2005 Honda Accord Hybrid, 2005 Honda Civic Hybrid, and 2005 Honda Insight are all fine hybrid cars.

My personal favorite is the 2006 Toyota Prius for it's efficiency of Miles Per Gallon and pricing as well as the things that comes standard - everything.

About $2.99 here, doesn't sound as bad as the rest of you, but, as I'm sure you already know, it adds up!

But I don't have to worry about cuz I don't drive cars, yet! :D

But in a year and a few months I will! Uh oooooooh!

Jah Bless.

Is the English gallon different to the American gallon? According to http://www.theaa.com/allaboutcars/fuel/ we are surpassing £4 per gallon in the UK which is roughly $6.65.
Thanks for working that out Fluffy - but, take my point; I think we can easily claim to do less than 1/2 the milage our American friends do, as a norm.

Out of interest, what is the Anual average mileage for an American car ?:)

Way, waaaay too low. (Or at least I imagine it is.)

Another issue is that we tend to not live within cycling distance from the places we need to go each day.

Wow. At least there's a reason for the price rise...Katrina wiped out 95% of the Gulf of Mexico's oil production. Here we're paying the equivalent of $3.89 a gallon - and already were before the hurricane because world oil prices were already up and even though we produce our own oil we have a little thing called 'parity pricing', which ensures that every time it costs more for someone in some other country to produce their oil, our prices go up as well.:areyoucra
