A child dies of pneumonia every 39 seconds

Why don't we make pneumonia vaccines mandatory and masks mandatory for pneumonia?

Pneumonia kills more children than any other infectious disease, claiming the lives of over 800,000 children under five every year, or around 2,200 every day. This includes over 153,000 newborns. Almost all of these deaths are preventable. Globally, there are over 1,400 cases of pneumonia per 100,000 children, or 1 case per 71 children every year, with the greatest incidence occurring in South Asia (2,500 cases per 100,000 children) and West and Central Africa (1,620 cases per 100,000 children).

I always just assumed that vaccine was just part and parcel of a child’s regular immunisation. Pretty sure I got mine, might need a booster now that I think about it

Also it’s not at a pandemic levels right now. It’s an issue to be sure and we should absolutely vaccinate children against it. But you can say the same of all illnesses that we currently vaccinate for. Priorities people, priorities

2,200 deaths a day isn't a pandemic because why? Because its mainly only young children?

Yes very sad indeed, and still we spend billions on war so we can kill more people that what nature takes.

1 million death/year is similar as covid. Most covid death are elderly with underlying health issues who might have died soon anyway,

Which seems to make the young children death more important to me, unless...

I was told on RF one because we can treat pneumonia now and two because it costs too much money. I assume years later they may have a yearly COVID vaccine like the flu if its like the flu and has its seasonal flares.

Talking so casually and dismissively about the deaths among a specific group just because they "might have died soon anyway" seems to me rather underestimating of the value of human life.

I would agree there is a set balance. Nature shows us what happens when that balance is lost.

No because on a global scale that rate is rather minuscule. Not that I think it’s not an important issue. I absolutely support measures to get herd immunity up to an effective level. I absolutely agree with you. We need to mandate that
But compare that to the death rate world wide of COVID right now.
Just because we’re focusing on an ongoing pandemic doesn’t mean that our lessened focus on other important medical issues is a “gotcha.” It just happens because one will take priority for a time. If we can eradicate it like the other diseases we will (hopefully) devote more time to other important issues

Your interpretation/opinion, phrased as fact though, which is not what RF recommends IMO. And not what I said and definitely not what I meant. Hence just your superimposition, hence untrue

And smoking kills around 8 million people an year, and it's perfectly legal, because it's all about the money, not about public health.

Pneumonia is a symptom/condition like sore throat or headache rather than a virus like Covid.

It may be caused by a virus like Covid, but it is often a bacterial infection.

You can't vaccinate people against pneumonia directly, although people can be vaccinated against some of the things that may cause pneumonia.

I've also run across chemical pneumonia.
A rough way to die it can be.
Fortunately, it's much less common.

Any of the covid deaths may have soon died anyways. It's been a rally cry for ignoring and neglecting safety guidelines, and it's over something that just isn't working. Especially now as the toll is on the rise for even for those under 40.

As has already been said, pneumonia can be caused by a whole range of viral and bacterial infections, not all of which can be vaccinated against and most of which general face mask use wouldn't protect against.

Your own link actually describes the range of measures that are needed to address this problem, with vaccination programs being just one of the elements. For that and most of the others, the limitation isn't in any lack of desire to implement the measures, it is largely lack of funding.

Because pneumonia can't be used for mass political control of populations and dosent have the profitability for generating hard cold cash for the wealthy bulging bank accounts as covid brings.
