RE and others here, I plan on Monday to start another thread that might interest some here because it sorta relates to this topic, and it will be entitled "Capitalism Hits the Fan". The reason I haven't started it by now, as I had mentioned it a few weeks ago, is that the last three weeks have been really hectic, and I didn't want to start a thread whereas I couldn't hardly spend time on it myself.
Looking forward to it. I'll give it my best.
Hey, you are catching on to RF pretty fast.
You should visit Revleft. It's a great place and I'm really glad to have been part of it as I learned a lot. But it's a war zone.
Lesson one is learning how not to get purged by the admins who are worried about Fascist infiltration and possible violence between the far left and far right offline from them accessing members details. This does actually happen. Then there's not discussing topics which are considered "counter-revolutionary". I could swear openly and talk about many issues which are taboo like sex, BDSM etc, but certain issues are a no-no; anarcho-primitivism, pro-life position on abortion and supporting North Korea are ones I can remember. Then there's not saying anything illegal on a forum where revolution is the normal topic of conversation.
The anarchists were in charge when I left [no, you're not hallucinating] and it was fairly liberal compared to what I know about it's history. There was a massive confrontation just before I became active as the hard-liners were in control and purged a large section of the members because they're were fascists somewhere in the forum. I can sympathize with the admins as I'm a bit older, but I don't envy them.
Lesson two is learning to duck for cover when the different communist/anarchist tendencies go for each other. it's just savage. No-one wins. ever.
I left because there was an attempted suicide (the second one as I remember) and a friend of mine intervened and got attacked for it and it looked like there were probably going to be more. I've had mental problems, but then I started to figure out that actually that was kind of the rule for the forum because it's membership is so heavily geared towards and late teens and twenties age group.
If you want to know what communists and anarchists do in their natural habitat- it's a good place to start. But the paranoia is infectious.
So honestly, RF is really civilized- it's so peaceful. thank god.
