A discussion I've been having, concerning human chromosome 2

It's kind of a confusing mess...

I think they are under the mistaken idea that a change in chromosome number would automatically produce a new species.... which is totally false.

Otherwise people with Down's Syndrome would be a separate species from the rest of humanity. (not to mention all the other types of human of chromosomal variation).

Male bees would be a different species from female bees... it's just not a supportable idea.

The fusion of human chromosome 2 is just one of several mutations the lead to our becoming human... it wasn't a magic bullet that suddenly made us different from our common ancestor with chimps.
