A Fun Idea

I'm not sure this is entirely the right place for this, as I mean it fairly seriously, but anyway!

After some ongoing discussions with homophobic members of RF, I just thought of an idea, which is that for every response in a discussion about homophobia I get from someone I consider to be homophobic, I could donate £1 to a group which is helping LGBT+ people. Maybe Imaan

I could do the same with anti-BLM and so on.

I'd make clear at the beginning of every discussion that I was doing this as well, just to make it more fun.

Anyone like the idea? Would I get people boycotting talking to me, or would they respond loads to try and bankrupt me?

You can give all the money you want to ME charities trying to help gay people, but until the majority population of that country accepts gay people it is a waste. Flooding something with money rarely helps. We have to address underlying problems, not just fire £££ at people. Also, as I'm super conservative, gay issues aren't at the top of my agenda. At best I just wish people would leave them alone.

Yeah, you've gotta be careful with who you give your money to, no doubt. I am very circumspect about which groups I support, and it's groups who are either helping people very directly (for example, a group providing housing for queer Syrian refugees and helping them process their asylum claims which works in Lebanon) or for groups which are working on changing social attitudes, which benefit from money in that it helps them establish their own spaces and raise awareness (such as Muslims for Progressive Values).

On a more general level, I believe in supporting groups who are helping with sustainable development, in particular those who are providing an education to those who don't have access to it.

Obviously we differ regarding rights for queer people, but the general principles here could apply to anything.

I wouldn't trust this. You need a honest third fourth party to hold the funds until the transaction is verified. Like me!
