A little logic.

Sanity is an illusion.
I've thought up a small problem for christians, and no one I know has been able to solve it.

IF god made man in his own image and IF god is perfect, then man's image, at least, is perfect. If man's image is perfect, why does he then have vestigial structures or organs such as the tailbone?

its not a problem for modern christians at all ,its all down to interpretation , lets see "its not meant to be literal" hows that

Besides - I think it was meant to be talking about the soul not something you can "see".
then why didnt it say that ?

Genesis 1:26 (King James Version)

King James Version (KJV) Public Domain

26And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

and again with the our how many of them are there ?

C'mon guys, give Aniki a break. He's not only an atheist, but a newbie on RF and hasn't seen our wisdom enough yet. Welcome, by the way Aniki. You have a great deal to learn and this is a great place to do it.

It doesn't NOT say it...

And our - because it is unlimited. All that is, is all. And God goes infinately up, and infinitely down. Us and Our are simply God speaking to Godself. Or so I see it - I could possibly be wrong. ;)

But he's done well in giving us a starting point for yet another discussion :D

God is talking to himself - yes. Itself divided up into bits so that God can be "here" and "there" and "the space between".

The beginnings of relativity.

I know - my views on things might be a little twisty - so I have developed the patience to be able to explain myself. Besides - it's a straight world without twisties ;)

I'm not a Christian, but I'll throw in my thoughts anyway.

If god is indeed perfect, does that necessarily mean that we also must be perfect? And perfect in what sense? Physically? Spiritually? As others have said "image" probably doesn't mean physical. Or maybe it did but we don't interpret it that way anymore. I'm not sure. I'm no Biblical scholar.

Does having vestigial structures make us less perfect? Are they actually vestigial?

Even IF your question holds up and vestigial structures in our anatomy is proof that we are not perfect (I personally don’t think anything can be perfect, as perfection is just a concept), Christians might say that we were perfect before the fall but we are not anymore.

I think all of us are 100% perfect. But that's just me.

Kai - is there something more I need to explain?

How can spirituality have an image?
Unless you mean something deeper than just appearance (in which case there are probably better words)[/quote

why cant we concentrate on the words that are actually there instead of trying to make them mean something else when they just don't make sense. just thank your lucky stars god doesn't look like an aardvark
