A little story for you all...

Hi all, my priest told me this story yesterday during coffee hour, I thought I'd share it with you. :)

There was a husband and wife who led very happy lives, having had good education, good jobs, and living in a nice house. The wife was a faithful Christian, but the husband couldn't bring himself to believe in a God that allowed evil and suffering to happen in the world. With all the wars and sins mankind committed against each other, how could he believe in a God that did nothing to stop it?

When Christmastime came around the wife asked her husband if he would like to go to church with her. The husband politely declined, saying that he'd rather go up into the library to read while she went to church. She left for her Christmas Eve service, and he went up to his library to read. There was an awful storm brewing, and the wind was blowing something awful. He heard a thud against the window. Shortly after, several others followed. He realized with horror that birds were flying into his window.

The man ran outside and saw that more birds were on their way. He hurried over to his barn and opened the big doors, hoping the birds would fly in there for safety. But they kept flying into his window and getting themselves killed. He began waving his arms and shouting, hoping to redirect the birds from his window and into the safety of the barn, but no matter what he tried, he failed to get their attention. He thought to himself, "If only I could become one of them, I could fly up among them and get their attention! Then I could guide them to safety and save them!"

Then it dawned on him. He fell to his knees, looked to Heaven and said, "Lord, now I know why you came."

I hope you all enjoyed that little story.
