They took the cat (named Rayne Beau) on a trip to Yellowstone, and the cat got away and got lost. They searched for four days, but finally had to head back home to Salinas, California.
In August, the Anguianos received amazing news when a microchip company messaged them that their cat was at the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Roseville, California, nearly 900 miles (1,448 kilometers) from Yellowstone. He was only about 200 miles (322 kilometers) away from his home in Salinas.
So, the cat had trekked 900 miles from Yellowstone and was only 200 miles from home when it was found.
It seems that the cat must have had a good sense of direction.
