That article isn't correct. He isn't completely missing his forebrain and midbrain. Holoprosencephaly is not the same as anencephaly. You can tell that just from the fact that he isn't missing his head above his eyebrows, such as those with anencephaly are. Stupid journalists would do well to look on Wikipedia before publishing such incorrect crap.

"Holoprosencephaly (HPE, once known as arhinencephaly) is a cephalic disorder in which the prosencephalon (the forebrain of the embryo) fails to develop into two hemispheres. Normally, the forebrain is formed and the face begins to develop in the fifth and sixth weeks of human pregnancy. The condition also occurs in other species.
The condition can be mild or severe. According to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), "in most cases of holoprosencephaly, the malformations are so severe that babies die before birth."[1]
When the embryo's forebrain does not divide to form bilateral cerebral hemispheres (the left and right halves of the brain), it causes defects in the development of the face and in brain structure and function.
In less severe cases, babies are born with normal or near-normal brain development and facial deformities that may affect the eyes, nose, and upper lip."

Regardless of that, good for the little guy.

So you think the journalists were morons and the doctors weren't amazed that the child survived and were able to talk?

There's varying severities of this particular condition. However, he has more than just a brain stem. I don't know exactly what parts of the brain other than that he has, but the brain (grey matter) is known to adapt to even severe traumas and such, so his brain may be adapting over time. If all he had was a brain stem, he wouldn't even be conscious.

Well considering how unlikely it would be had the doctors not been trying to keep him alive, probably explainable by science. Now if he cartwheeled out of the womb with a song and dance routine; that would fall somewhere in the miracle category.

Partial brain wouldn't make a good headline though.

I'm not so sure about that. People with no brain are so common that a partial brain might be a novelty and newsworthy.

Scarecrow: I haven't got a brain... only straw.
Dorothy: How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

Miracle, blessings, and science. I wouldnt separate the two. Even if there was nothing "supernatural" involved, doesnt exclude it from being a miracle. They happen daily.

First of all, good luck to both kids.
@FearGod , are you suggesting this is evidence of God? That God intervened here directly for some purpose?

There are countless examples of people losing vast quantities of brain-matter from accidents, and not only do they survive, but they tend to survive mostly unchanged. The brain is capable of rewiring what it has, having other portions 'multi-task' as it were*, to accomplish the functions the missing bits used to do.

In the case of this girl, she's actually got a bit of an advantage. Yes, she's missing large portions of her brain. But there is no "rewiring" because she wasn't "wired" in the first place. While she'll probably never function as-well as most people(there's only so much that can be done with that amount of material), she probably won't be completely invalid.

*No, for those wondering, that is not at all related to the "90% of your brain" bull****.

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
How could a person even determine or tell if it's a maricle from God in the first place and not a persons biology ?

What would be an identifier?
