A Nation Of Christs

Many religions base their trust and their actions according to the Biblical accounts of Jesus and his followers. Now I understand that there was only one Christ and a few followers back in ancient times but now we have many nations devoted to the work and teachings of Christ yet the problems that existed back then seem to overwhelm us even though we have a hundreds of thousands of people imitating Christ. Are these people who profess to be like Christ actively putting themselves in service or are some just enamored by Christ’s teachings? Is it a futile attempt to become Christ-like without the powers that Jesus and the apostles possessed or can they work around it? Do they posses the love needed to complete this purpose or are many religious people still trying to come to terms with this definition? Though Christ and his followers were not wealthy by any means we see that his church has prospered in a sense. Is it a question of money or money being misdirected? Is it a question of time and other responsibilities?

I understand that Jesus only had three years to make an effective impact but that impact is still being felt even today yet no organization has been able to recapture the love or the claim to fame that Jesus made. Are religious people who believe in becoming Christ–like doing everything they can to be like Jesus or can they make a more effective impact through their numbers and with the possibilities that are afforded us in this day?

Your question made me think of Mother Theresa. Such a small, weak, and fragile woman. Yet her impact was huge. Did she need super natural powers? No.

I believe that there are many who claim to be christlike. But a fair many fall short.
