Why is it that you pick out one Verse and try and build a whole mountain off it.
So let's back up to Verse 12 and come down to Verse 16.
In 1 Peter 3:12-16.
Verse 12, For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers, but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil"
Therefore, if and when a person comes to ask, What's the reason why I believe in what I believe, and you know exactly where they are heading, just to criticize, Why I believe what I believe. It becomes evil intention.
Therefore I do not have to answer.nor will I.
Verse 13, "And who is he that will harm you, if you be followers of that which is good"
Therefore, a person is only asking, to criticize what I believe. Therefore I do not have to answer.
Verse 14, But and if you suffer for righteousness sake, happy are you and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled"
Therefore, I do not let people trouble me with their contention. Neither am I troubled with their evil contentions.
Verse 15, But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asks you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear"
Therefore to sanctify the Lord God, is to not answer evil contentions, which gender unto nothing.which is only the evilness of their heart.
Verse 16, Having a good conscience, that, where as they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ"
Therefore a person is not seeking to know, but to criticize, Why a person believe's in what they believe.
How many times have I came across people like this, I couldn't begin to count.
They are not asking, But are only asking to criticize. Unto which I do have to answer their criticism of evilness.
