I went to the story today and there was a woman in front of me who was scolding her kid for wanting to buy candy.
There were both rather bulky and bulbus if you catch my drift. Anyway the mother bought a big thing of milk duds and
the kid wanted something for himself. the mother said "you can't have that, have you even looked at yourself latley?"
And I wanted to say to her, that is quite interesting mai'am have you?

Some people are just so stupid. I have now heard the question "How many pieces of chicken come in the four pack?" TWICE!

Not everyone's weight problem is limited to eating issues, Chuck. That doesn't excuse her from making such a damaging comment to her child, though.

True, but the Milk Duds give a bit of evidence. :)

*smacks self in head* For some reason, I first read it as it was the kid begging his mom to buy the Duds, as opposed to her being the one to be in the process of buying them. You're right, that's a telling bit of evidence!

whats really interesting about the relationship between me and my mother that i have to regulate her on what shee eats, instead of the other way around. she says she tries to lose weight, but i bet she would be 100 pounds heavier if i wasn't around.

I will never understand why somepeople allow themeselves to get so big. Sure, some people do have a genetic mutation that causes that, but most people just eat too much and are too lazy to exercise.
I do wish parents would be a better example, and limit what thier kids eat, and how much, but what that mom said is a negative remark that would hurt a kid.

There are some of us (not talking about anyone in particular :D ) who eat very little (apart from the odd bit of something nice for a treat) who can't get excercise - because I am disabled. I am overweight, and unless I go on a starvation diet, there is no way I can lose any weight.:p

I agree 100%. Genetic, medical conditions for weight gain isn't why most people are overweight. Most people simply eat too much and exercise too little. It takes a hell of a lot of work to stay in any kind of shape, it's just most people aren't willing to put in the work.

With regard to the original topic, I would have stared that woman down until she cried. That would have really pissed me off.

I did forget to mention those with physical limitations. I gained 30 pounds after I tore my ACL. I took alot of work to get it back down.

I just don't understand this type of thing. I see it frequently though and it is sad.

I have a friend of mine that is quite large, she always has been and I can gaurantee it isn't because of her eating habits, and the rest of her family is large as well, thyroid problems. BUT I know several others that have no such problem and just eat constantly bad foods.

I once worked with a woman who literally had to have two chairs to sit on and barely fit in her cubicle. You could catch her any given day having a large pizza for lunch and "snacking" an hour later on a super size bag of Doritos (which she would finish within half an hour). She got so large that she could barely walk and she had that stomach stapling thing done. She wouldn't have had to go to that extreme if she could have just given up the Pizza Hut lunches and stuff like that.

As for the mother saying what she said to the child...I AM a big enough b**** to say something to her...I would have. Perhaps if someone were to treat her in the way she was treating her child it would eventually result in a wake up call.

I, like Draka, can be a b**** enough that I would have told her that maybe she should set an example and put the 'fattie treat' back! And the derogatory remarks certainly don't help!

isn't that itself a derogatory remark?
