A quick question about the LHP

I've becoming increasingly interested in the values of the Left-Hand path and have been reading a bit on it.
But there is something I do not understand...

Is the Left-Hand Path always associated with the Satanism, Luciferianism, or Seitan religions? It seems everywhere I look the LHP goes hand-in-hand with those religions.

Or, is it possible to just consider oneself "of the Left-Hand Path"?

Out of curiosity, why would you want to do that?

I'm guessing you mean why would I want to consider myself on the LHP? I just caught that I didn't write that too clearly.
I am interested in the LHP, but I don't necessarily mean I'm "seeking" to consider myself on that path. The main reason I am asking is out of curiosity. :)

LHP is very often associated with those religions/ beliefs because they are (as far as I can tell) the most well known of the LHP belief systems. However, LHP is in no way limited to these and you don't have to part of those systems or nessicaraly share their ideals to be LHP. Personally I belive myself to be LHP but I am not Satanist or Setian etc.

LHP is about the betterment and empowerment of the self but you don't have to do that in any certain way, just what is best for you.

If you haven't already I highly suggest you check out the following: http://www.religiousforums.com/foru...ons/69431-right-hand-path-left-hand-path.html

Hope that helps.:D

To Thine own Self be True ;)

A side question...
do you suppose most of LHP leanings
practice magick to one extent or another?

I think the will-full full-fillment
of the ACTIVE REALiation of
One's own path, persona and potential...
IS a magic/magick.
(by it's very nature)

EDIT: Oh! And welcome to RF Social Ferocity. :)

Thank you for the welcome UltraViolet.

Hmm. I'm going to be honest- I don't know how to answer than question which just shows how much I need to learn on the subject. :)
And it is a very interesting question...

The LHP seems to focus on individualism and improvement. Improvement is a change.
But is magick simply change or does it go deeper than that?

Does it matter? He doesn't have to jusitfy himself to you.

I do not attach myself to satanism otherwise people think im a silly little Gothic kid who only believes in satan because Dimmu Borgir does. I have long black hair and usually wear black clothes so its hard to avoid unfortunately, most young Australians are idiots though.

However I do follow a few values of satanism (LaVeyan), worship ones self as a God. I try not to be selfish, but having self respect is most important :)

While such religions are very compatible, and go hand-in-hand with the LHP, that is not always the case. It would be possible even to be a LHP atheist.

Shadow Wolf is right. Many Satanists are LaVeyan (or modern, or atheistic) Satanists who's beliefs in Satan go no further than that he is a symbol representing freedom.

I only title my religion as "Left Hand Path" because, in all honesty, I don't know exactly what LHP religion I would follow. I don't just believe in Lucifer/Satan and Set. I believe in the Norse gods, Roman gods, Greek, pretty much all of them because I, like many other LHP followers (mostly practicioners of chaos magick) believe that gods can be created through human belief and will.

I'd also like to point out that devil worshippers are not Satanists. They are Christians and "real" Satanists (both theistic and atheistic) generally hate them as they give them a bad name and are overall very stupid people.

I don't think you have to follow any specific religion to consider yourself LHP. I don't follow any established LHP system but have rather looked to myself and found my own path. While it may not be an "established" path I am all about the betterment and empowerment of the self which, as I understand it, is LHP's main thrust. Therefore I consider myself LHP

I generally use the term "****** off Christians."

I suppose no particular religion is needed to be followed in the Left Hand Path, but that's what I mean. I don't know exactly what to believe since there are so many conflicting ideas. As long as I work towards personal empowerment, I'm good, but my main question to myself is how I view Satan. Is he the biblical Lucifer? Is he Set? Baalzebub? Azazel? Enki? Just a symbol of freedom? I'm a theist, but I don't know whether I'm a Luciferian, theistic Satanist, Setian or something I don't know of yet.

I hope I don't hijack the thread.
However, do you think it is possible to be both RHP and LHP?

From what I understand of the definitions (artificial as I think them to be), it is not only possible, it is basically the ultimate goal.
