A second stimulus check?

I had to look it up after talking with my friend. She mentioned the government is still thinking of sending more stimulus checks especially to businesses.

Trump says he favors payroll tax cuts not ‘big distribution’ of checks in next stimulus

Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif., and Rep. Tim Ryan, D-Ohio, have introduced the Emergency Money for the People Act in the House. It calls for people earning under $130,000 to get $2,000 payments every month for at least six months, with special rules for married couples and children.

“A one-time, twelve-hundred-dollar check isn’t going to cut it,” Khanna said in a news release. “Americans need sustained cash infusions for the duration of this crisis in order to come out on the other side alive, healthy and ready to get back to work.”

I'd have to hear the opinions of a few economists before I'd want to make a decision about the checks. Might be a good idea, depending on how it was paid for.

The idea of payroll tax cuts was considered and panned the last time around. Of course Trump does not care.

It's not a good sign. 6 months?

I guess it all depends if we can ride out that long without irreversibly damaging the economy to the point of collapse.

If people cannot buy food, the whole system is going to collapse, and blood will run in the streets.

50% of Americans were living paycheck to paycheck, and did not have sufficient savings to cover even a minor emergency before the pandemic. And that $1200 isn't going to cover anyone for long. They can let the rent and mortgages and utility bills go temporarily, but they have to have food. And if they have no money to buy it, the looting will start. And once that starts, the whole system is going to come apart.
