A speaker of the way

Yeah well...not believing in the hereafter is a bit short.

Compared to the time span of the known universe, Man hasn't been around very long.
As individuals, life is extremely brief.

Not much point in such brevity. Not much point in living without something more to look forward to.
Not believing in life after death...are you not selling yourself short?

Who can say what comes after death? any and all prophets...any believer.
Haha, who is selling themselves short? Sounds like you have an over-developed sense of attachment to life.

And again: you are speaking of your pov, what you believe. Who has told you these things? Who planted the seed in your mind?

You are speaking of death, life is what Zen is speaking of. They are different. You have consistently tried to point out that after death... when we die... when you fall to the dust...
This loss of self Zen speaks of is not after death, it is during life. I stand up each time I fall to the ground, I even retain myself

I believe in life after death.
How is your viewpoint different?

But 'you and 'me' as spirits...fail?
Not much point that God generates billions of individuals only to lose what they think and feel.

I think this is where we part.
You would be willing to let go of who you are.
I will not.

A question for you Thiefy One. Do you think it would be more accurate to say that one should endeavor to become less egotistical rather than try to have less ego? My thinking is that as long as you maintain a physical body you will have the necessary psychological interface known as ego. In my perspective the inner self augments the outer ego-based personality and it is somewhat foolish to try to eradicate that outer aspect of being. That said, I'm asking about the exaggerated sense of self-importance of the ego as seen in egotistical qualities.

In my view, it would seem reasonable to curb egotistical qualities with the understanding that eradicating the ego itself is simply daft, and to my perspective, eliminating the ego (as we understand the term) was not what Buddha was talking about.

If this is less than clear, it is because I am too vain to type with my glasses on, lol.

As pointed out earlier in this thread...
The digression has become a comparative discussion.
To answer your question could digress even further.
I'll start a thread about ego.
We can take it there.

*GOD*, that is a concept only my friend and nothing is craeted nor destroyed as energy it only changes form according to *ACTION*.

I think this is where we part.
When did we meet? to part?

You would be willing to let go of who you are.
I will not.

Am only a part of the whole out of which the form has come and as it is never separated from the whole so the question of coming and going is only an illusion which is also labeled *maya*.
Rgds your *I*; well, you know best what to do.
Do take care of it.
