The only ones I've seen so far were $250+ if they were made of any sort of metal, rather than wood. Too much for me!Not sure how " reasonably priced " they would be though .
You are correct. They usually are made of metal . Brass or silver I believe .
I found a few, but they aren't what I'm looking for. I want a copper or brass torc.A wooden one would be a little harder to find , I would think .
I thought of this, but I am unsure where to find someone able to do such a thing. It may be easier , and cheaper to have one made ?

I asked Bastet what the blue stars signified a couple of weeks ago. Her very helpful answer was,'dunno.' Maybe it means you've been here over a year? Why is there a blue star above my avatar?
A local jeweller (A "mom and pop" style, not a mainsteam one) will be able to custom make you a design of your choice.Druidus said:I thought of this, but I am unsure where to find someone able to do such a thing.

Me,me!!! I could do it. It'd have to be in a hefty Viking weave rather than the solid twist in the ones Pah has posted, but I reckon it'd be relatively easy. fairly inexpensive in copper or brass, too. My only problem would be finding something to cap the ends with...but I have my resources.
Dru my friend, you've given me an idea for a new addition to the Lady Lazarus line.
I'm in Charrelottetown. Nothing of the sort is likely to exist.A local jeweller (A "mom and pop" style, not a mainsteam one) will be able to custom make you a design of your choice.
Ah. Isnt commercialisation grand!Druidus said:I'm in Charrelottetown. Nothing of the sort is likely to exist.
Give me a couple of weeks to get some wire and have a play around Dru, and I'll send you some pics and see if I've managed to come up with something you like.Druidus said:Really? If you could find out what the price would be to make and ship the torc, I'd be glad to pay you.
Thanks! If possible, I think something slightly larger (thicker) than the ones I've seen in pictures so far would be better looking.Give me a couple of weeks to get some wire and have a play around Dru, and I'll send you some pics and see if I've managed to come up with something you like.
A torc is Celtic neckwear Michel . As I'm sure you know by now .michel said:I am really glad you guys know what you are torc ing about, because I had never heard of one!!!
I thought they were a bit thin myself.Druidus said:Thanks! If possible, I think something slightly larger (thicker) than the ones I've seen in pictures so far would be better looking.
All you guys can do is torc torc torc................:biglaugh:lady_lazarus said:I thought they were a bit thin myself.
What I'm thinking of is a Viking Weave - which is essentially a closely woven chain - (I've been trying to find a decent picture so you can see what I'm talking about, but they're like hens teeth) in a heavy gauge wire to give it substance, with a core wire to give it the shape. The fun part is going to be the monkey fist knots I want to end it with. I've never tried to tie a complicated knot in wire before.
very useful; thanks for letting me know, Seyorni, now I know where I can borrow one!:help:Seyorni said:I have a couple of torq wrenches -- can't do proper maintainence/repair on my truck or motorcycle without one.
