Question: If a bomb drops on a Yemeni child, does the whole world hear about it?
Yemen Under Longest Period of Saudi Heavy Bombing Seen Since 2018 - News From Antiwar.com
The whole world watches Ukraine. Yemen... not so much. The barbarity is all the same though, no?

If one has a “Zero Trust Policy” when it comes to government, how do they see the Ukraine conflict?
Personally, I think the reason why the Ukraine conflict is important for the western elites that are in charge of NATO (whomever they be) boils down to this: Nord Stream 2 pipeline.

A pipeline pumping Russian gas directly to Germany. A trade relationship like that would develop into something more, perhaps even a military alliance, if allowed to blossom unchecked. Russia and Germany cannot be united, as that would offer a threat to the American hegemony that the elites have enjoyed for 75 years.

Just my thoughts. What are your thoughts?

Yemen started as a civil war. So it's hard to get involved in internal conflicts. It is known to be a humanitarian catastrophe, as civil wars tend to be.

Well it is an element, I don't think that is the only issue. Russia is posing a direct threat to Europe and other sovereign nations. The only government that is not trusted is Russia.

Germans have been very committed to democracy, economics, and stability since the end of WW2. They know they were the cause for both world wars, and understand their role as a peacekeeper ever since. I can see Germany forming economic alliances with Russia, but not political or military.

The future will depend on how the Russian government settles its massive corruption and authoritarian, anti-democracy structure. Putin has burned his bridges to the world.

This is where I part ways in thinking from most people I guess, but I am an anarchist. I suppose the US government has just as much ill intent as the Russian government does. Your perspective changes when you view all governments like that, drives you nuts :)

My thoughts are that Germany doesn't care very much about America and will possibly side with Russia if it's in their best interests.

They are caught between two necessities: fuel and security.

The world is seeing how green energy offers more independence and security in the long run.

I fully agree with you. Germany and Russia have a spiritual connection. Let us not forget that Catherine II the Great was not Russian, but a German princess. Under her Empire Russia achieved unimaginable things.

This is so absurd I really can't be bothered to disentangle it.

I think the reason Ukraine gets a lot of media attention and concerns in Europe is because it is a Europeans country, there is no doubt about that. But there are conflicts all over the world constantly, whether its drug wars, actual wars, tribe wars, internal wars etc. The other fact is that Russia have a huge army, nuclear weapons and the risk of WW3. Also the absurdity of the war, we haven't really seen a similar conflict like this for a very long time, where its an actual invasion.

The other thing is the problem of getting involved in places like Yemen. First of all the Arabic world don't want us there, so I think that is a good enough reason to not go there and then they should solve this themselves. To me, looking at the pass many conflicts, the Arabic world doesn't really seem motivated to change things and if they ain't then we shouldn't get involved.

So the bombing of anyone no matter where it is, is terrible. But we have seen that trying to change systems simply doesn't work if the population is not interested.

Perhaps a good outcome of this war is that more countries will realize that it is not in their best interests to depend on other countries for their power supply.

I think how the UN and NATO have been successful in developing mutual interests and trust illustrates we can have shared security and trust. About half to fossil fuels in the world are controlled by authoritarian governments and the West has had to tolerate their injustices and lack of human rights as a result.

I think the right in the USA are correct in being more energy independent but they are wrong in thinking that can happen with fossil fuels since they are global commodities. Green energy is the means to independence and I hope the right will acknowledge this and work towards that goal. The Saudis, China, and Russia have used their power as oil suppliers to get away with many injustices and as long as the major nations depend on fossil fuel that power will remain in their hands.

Also when it comes to oil it is a rather limited commodity. Now we have continually found more oil. But we are at about the limits for exploration. The major new sources are on the continental shelves, and that introduces a whole slew of problems. Fracking is a temporary stop gap measure that enables us to get more out of old oil fields and to recover oil from sources that were previously not economical. Peak oil is a real thing and it far wiser to get off of oil as a fuel source when it is voluntary rather than when it is mandatory.

Surely.
But Ukraine has to do with that in so many ways.
We had our nuclear plants.
But after Chernobyl, the Government started to terrorize the people by saying that nuclear is risky etc... pushing for a referendum.
The people scared had no choice but to vote yes, that is, to shut down all nuclear plants.

Can you believe it? Fermi's homeland.

I still think nuclear power creates huge amounts of power with very little fuel.

That was in the 80's. Technology has changed quite a bit. Nuclear is safer today. The main problem that remains is where and how to store waste when it remains dangerous for many thousands of years. There is concern in the USA that the storage unit where nuclear waste is stored is deteriorating. So it costs more and more to manage the waste, and this only adds to the short term low cost of energy production. We are seeing climate change add to the cost of the fossil fuel use over the decades. We can't sustain this use and the costs.

The Italian government is so sinister tyrannical that it can force its own people to vote a specific way in a referendum, unlike the Brexit referendum in the UK where everyone voted out of their own free will and with perfect information.

No doubt, every Italian was mind controlled by George Soros that day.

In the 21st century we all found out that most Chernobyl reactors had a very bad design.
With unsafe materials like graphite in the tip of the control rods.

Whereas ours had an excellent design. The first was built by a British company and sold to the State.

The whole world watches Ukraine being attacked by Russia, instead of similar barbaric attacking in Yemen because the media is mostly located in European and North America countries, and European people to the viewers of their shows are more important than Middle Eastern Islamic people. There's another reason also. Russia has a lot of nuclear missiles. The first is the biggest factor.
