A video that kicked me because of my inner stress...

Spirit of Light

Be who ever you want
This video explains so well the "wrong" I have done in being too stressed personally about the past and the future. Yes, it's a kick at me because I always advocate the importance of living in the moment.
I should have left all my worries to Allah, and I have not done that

It is about how stress should be handled by a Muslim, So if you do not wish to watch the video with Muslim content I understand you :) It is not a video given by a Sufi but it contained a lot of wisdom for me so I wanted to share it :)

Hi @Conscious thoughts , here are my responses :)

On the video: I watched the video. I think it was mostly intended to appeal to Westerners with "first world" problems to convince them that Islam is the solution to their everyday problems. I doubt that a starving Muslim in Afghanistan or Africa would see things the same way, but it's always a question of perspective.

On (what I think) was your question: AFAIK, Islam has a highly ritualized form of prayer, so I wonder why "retrieving" this ritual from memory doesn't bring you any relief even though it has to be done 5 times a day. As a kid, I used to pray the rosary a lot, and praying or hearing it still calms me down, even though I no longer believe in its contents. That's why I also looked for a religion where prayer on beads is recommended. When I was sitting at home with corona, I structured my day with certain actions like cooking food, or praying, and always concentrated only on when the next ritual was "due". Regular ritualized prayer without putting oneself under pressure can help you to to persevere in difficult times.

I learned that lesson now :p And the strange thing is, after I saw the video most of the worries did leave. and it feels more free

My computer audio is gone but since the video had titles I read it and see that the teachings of the Bible are similar to the teachings on the video except that it is Jesus who is the one who has been made the Lord for a Christian and everything that happens in our life is allowed by Him for our good even when it does no seem that way,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and we can hand all our troubles over to Him and turn to Him in times of stress.
It is good to keep a focus on the bigger picture and not on the smaller parts of our life that are the cause of all our stresses.
Easier said than done of course.

If it was not for the Sufi teachings, and the daily practice I probably would have struggled even more than I have done :) But I do not see the struggle as something negative, because when I struggle mentally or physically I realize that I study harder and longer every day, something I find to be a good thing :)

Life is not easy :) And accepting all what comes our way is not easy either when example the body hurt 24/7 as it has done for me for some time now. But it is what it is

I have found great wisdom from Sufi teachings. Carry on.
