Abbas Admits For the First Time That He Turned Down Peace Offer in 2008

In a rare moment of candor, Abbas has admitted that he turned down peace and an Arab Palestinian state in 2008. The important thing to note is that the proposed deal met 100% of his demands. I wonder if he will ever get around to admitting he turned down a deal in 2013 which also would have met almost all of his demands.

Abbas Admits For the First Time That He Turned Down Peace Offer in 2008

At 24:05 of the video, Channel 10 reporter Raviv Drucker asked Abbas: “In the map that Olmert presented you, Israel would annex 6.3 percent [of the West Bank] and compensate the Palestinians with 5.8 percent [taken from pre-1967 Israel]. What did you propose in return?”

“I did not agree,” Abbas replied. “I rejected it out of hand.”

Meanwhile, in more important news, Prime Minister Netanyahoo of Israel admits he has turned down every single peace offer from the Palestinians since he took office.

Yeah!! Meanwhile Netanyahoo is Mr. Peace Negotiator.

Lyndon - Abbas has made a total of ZERO offers of peace while serving his now 11 years of his 4 year term of office. His predecessor, the Egyptian who founded the Arab Palestinian movement, Yassir Arafat similarly made a grand total of ZERO offers of peace during his unelected tenure in office.

Sunstone: The fact that Abbas has turned down all offers of peace and another Arab Palestinian State is not at all surprising. The Arabs have been doing so for quite some time. The reason he has turned down all offers for peace is that he - and his entire movement - is unwilling to accept the existence of the State of Israel or the sovereignty of the Jewish people anywhere in their homeland or anywhere else for that matter. There are both religious and political reasons for this. there is also the practical reason that Abbas knows that if he ever dares to say yes to peace he will be killed by other Arabs and the money stream to his family and friends will dry up. It is a lose, lose proposition for him.

You have links to the peace offers?
I ask because I don't think any such thing exists and you are full of bulldust when you refer to them.
The only peace the Palestinian leaders have ever offered is the kind that settles over a village after the invaders are done looting, pillaging and burning.

Yes..Yes..Yes, Abbas is the problem.

Do you think the people in this forum are fools or what ?

Hitler was innocent, Netanyahoo told us that a Palestinian asked Hitler to burn the Jews, what'll be next.

FearGod - No, but some of them are apparently rather misinformed. Facts matter. It is important to stick with the facts. The facts are that there have been numerous offers of peace given to the Arabs and they have all been rejected, or in the case of some, accepted and later rejected. .

The first offer of peace is found in the San Remo accords. (The treaties which set up the current Middle East and all of the mandates - including the mandate for the creation of the Jewish Homeland a.k.a. the Palestinian mandate). Under that agreement - to which the Arabs were a party - the lands of the Ottoman Empire were divided between the native peoples (that includes the Jews). It was agreed that the Jews would establish a Jewish State in a small portion of the Ottoman Empire's former lands, on the site of their ancient homeland. That area included all of what today is Israel and the "disputed territories" the Kingdom of Jordan the Golan and parts of Southern Lebanon.

Due to an Arab change of mind and due to political calculations by the British, the British lopped off @ 70% of the Jewish Homeland and created the first Arab Palestinian State - the Kingdom of Transjordan. The Arabs accepted this, at the time, as the final borders between the Jewish State (to be) and the Arab State(s).

After creating Jordan, the UK started importing Arabs into the rest of the mandate with fervor and restricted Jewish immigration (this was in direct contravention of their treaty obligations but it made the Arabs happy and allowed the UK to maintain control and access to resources.

In 1947 the UNGA suggsted a peace settlement which would divide the remaining portion of the Mandate ffor the Creation of the Jewish Homeland between the native Jewish population and the Arabs. the Jews siad yes, the Arabs said no and started a war.

The war ended with Jordan illegally occupying Judea and Samaria which tey re-named the West Bank and Egypt illegally occupying Gaza. Israel offered peace terms based on the armistice lines (which had no meaning other than that is where the sides were when the fightng stopped) and the Arabs came out with their 3 no's and declined the offer of peace.

In 1967 the Arabs invaded Israel and lost a war which saw Israel liberating Judea and Samaria and Gaza and acquiring the Sinai.

Do you know the hoistoy since then - or do I need to spell it out for you?

the take away is that there have been @ a dozen offers of peace since then and each one was rejected by the Arabs. The Arabs have retained their allegiance to the three No's.

Why don't you actually try and deal with what's in the post instead of the above?

Because i safe myself from a headache, Your PM accused the Palestinians of being responsible
for burning the Jews by the Germans, should i explain that he was a liar, and if i did, will that
solve the Palestinian problem.

If you're not willing to give yourself a "headache" by actually doing the homework and responding to the post, then why did you comment at all?

I believe it was JFK who said "Let us never fear to negotiate, but let us never negotiate out of fear". If Abbas fails to negotiate, and he does, then exactly how can a possible peace agreement be reached? Making excuses not to negotiate won't bring peace-- Basic Logic 101.

Commenting is different than discussing, if you said to me this horse is a donkey
and you are insisting to say that it's a donkey, then i may comment and say no it's
a horse but think of it a dog if you wish, i don't want to be involved in a futile argument.

It's like raping a girl in her own family house and asking for negotiation to let her free.
