Dear members from Abrahamic religions,

what do you think of the following statement:

"God never burdens you with more than you are able to bear."

It would be nice if you gave some reasons for your views. ;)

It's pretty self explanatory, don't you think?

I would disagree. Paul's experience in
2 Corinthians 1:8-9 doesn't support the statement.

The phrase has support from the Christian Bible and Baha'i teachings. I would presume there is support in the Hebrew Bible and Quran too. It is encouragement during times of tests and difficulties that we have the capacity to endure much more than we think and not to become too attached to the chances and changes of this fleeting mortal world IMHO.

People either don't believe it or it's not true, as many turn to alcohol, drugs, suicide, or even just psychotherapy to cope with issues.

I know plenty of religious people, including Jews, Christians, and Muslims, who crack under the stress and end up in psychiatric units. So basically, the above quote is baloney.
