Accounts / First Ahmadiyya Khalifah of Promised Messiah

DawudTalut

Peace be upon you.
Peace be on you….For the sake of Allah the Exalted, Hazrat Molana Nur ud Din (may Allah be pleased with him) had the connection of sincerity, love and devotion with Hazrat Promised Messiah (on whom be peace). He is remembered as role model in Ahmadiyya history as he fulfilled dues of bai’at, connection, devotion and humility of highest standard . Imam of age, Hazrat Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) granted him unique and tremendous honour in a Persian verse:

چہ خوش بودے اگر ہر یک زامت نور دیں بودے

(How good it would be if each person of the community became Nur ud Din)

It implies if everyone become like him, a revolutionary change can come.

Gist of some narrates by Hazrat Musleh Maud (may Allah be pleased with him) about the deep mutual love between the spiritual master and the follower and also the deep humility and sincerity of the follower.

--

Once , while Hazrat Molana Nur ud Din (r.a.) was visiting Qadian, Hazrat Promised Messiah (a.s.) recieved revelation from Allah the Exalted that if he went back home town he would loose his respect. He was having a superb home under construction there with a great hall for lectures about Holy Quran and clinic….He never went back for the sake of Allah.

--

Some individuals thought very high about themselves and their intellect. They opined the Jama’at could not afford to run two schools and wanted to only keep a Madrassa for Arabic language. Hazrat Musleh Maud, a minor at the time, was very against this and Hazrat Maulana Nur ud Din shared this view. Eventually Hazrat Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) decided in their favour.

Hazrat Molana Nur ud Din (r.a.) was reading books of Hazrat Promised Messiah (a.s.) even before he claimed as Promised Messiah. Hazrat Promised Messiah (a.s.) wrote about this subject in his books ‘Fateh Islam’ and ‘Tauzeeh Maram’. Some ill-thinking person read the proofs of the books and came with a party of people to Hazrat Nur ud Din and tried to confuse him about the issue of coming of Prophet in this age. But Hazrat Molana Nur ud Din replied: If the claimant was a liar he would not believe him but if a truthful person claimed so he would believe him since a Prophet can still come. Mirza sahib has written correctly I have faith in him.

A sister of Hazrat Molana Nur ud Din did Bai'at of Hazrat Promised Messiah (on whom be peace). Formerly she was a disciple of a Pir….When he heard about it, he said Nur ud Din had cast spell on her…..Upon learning this, Hazrat Molana Nur ud Din told her if Pir ever say her something, she should tell him she was responsible for her deeds and Pir was responsible for his, and she accepted Hazrat Promised Messiah (a.s.) to avoid chastisement of Day of Judgement…..At this Pir said he would taker her burden and for himself reference of certain religious elders would suffice.

Hazrat Molana Nur ud Din (r.a.) accepted Hazrat Promised Messiah (a.s.) when whole world was against him. Albeit some of Hazrat Molana’s sons took wrong stance about Khilafat and Jama'at, Hazrat Molana Nur ud Din (r.a.) is always remembered in prayers because he accepted Hazrat Promised Messiah (a.s.) when the whole world was against him.

--

In the early days, it was seen Hazrat Molana Nur ud Din helped in doing common chores. Once it was about to rain, dung-fuel arrived and it was to be stored in. Hazrat Molana took initiative. He was mentor and physician. When other saw him serving they took came for help.

--

Hazrat Promised Messiah (a.s.) would walk switftly during long walk. But Hazrat Molana Nur ud Din (r.a.) was slower in walk, as most of his time he would see patients at clinic sitting. Hazrat Promised Messiah (a.s.) adopted the way to stop and ask a question to Hazrat Molana. That would make him to answer while moving faster towards Hazrat Promised Messiah (a.s.) who wanted to make him move swiftly.

--

Once the Hazrat Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) was in Delhi when Hazrat Mir Nasir Nawab Sahib (r.a.) fell severely ill. Doctors suggested surgery while some advised to use Unani (Perso-Arabic) medicine…..Hazrat Promised Messiah (a.s.) sent a telegram to Hazrat Molana Nur ud Din (r.a.) to come promptly n whatever state he was. At that time, Hazrat Molana Nur ud Din was at his clinic. He did not even have his coat. He took someone with him and set off immediately. When his companion suggested he may get some money Molana said: No, the instruction is to come in whatever state we are.

Both walked to the town of Batala (11 miles) and reached the railway station. The companion asked how they were going to pay fare. Molana replied let us sit here, God will arrange it. Meanwhile a man came to them and asked if he was Hakeem Nur ud Din. He said: Yes. The man said there was some time before their train departure, and he had asked the station master to wait for them anyway. He said his wife was very ill, could Molana go and treat her. Hazrat Molana Nur ud Din went and saw the patient, wrote a prescription and returned to the station.

In gratitude the man bought their tickets and offered Rupee 50 thus Hazrat Maulana Nur ud Din reached Delhi and treated Hazrat Mir Nasir Sahib (r.a.).

“Hazrat Musleh Maud writes (may Allah be pleased with him) that this is a great example of trust in God. However, one is also tested at times, at times one has to endure starvation and even lose clothes off one’s back, or be at the brink of death so that people may know that God’s servants completely rely on Him and trust Him.”

--

Once Hazrat Promised Messiah (a.s.) said that God had inspired Molana Nur ud Din to come to Qadian and so many people were availing of him. His presence was a great favour of God.

--

“Once a companion came to see the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) in Qadian and went to Masjid Mubarak. Shoes were placed by the door of the mosque. A person in simple clothes came and sat just by the shoes. This companion took the man to be a habitual thief who stole shoes, so he kept a watchful eye on him. After the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) passed away and the companion heard that someone had become Khalifatul Masih, he came to take bai’at. When he extended his hand to take bai’at, he saw the very same person whom he had thought to be someone who stole shoes, that is, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (may Allah be pleased with him). The companion was mortified. It was indeed the habit of Hazrat Maulana Nur ud Din (may Allah be pleased with him) to sit where shoes were kept and would only move forward when the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) called him. He attained his high status through these acts of humility.”

--

Hazrat Khalifatul Messiah V (a.t.) said “Thus was the humility of someone who excelled in spiritual knowledge and was among the top most physicians of India and who was greatly honoured by the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace) and this only increased his humility. May God continue to elevate his station and give sense to those who create mischief in his name and may God enable us to draw lessons from his model according to the wishes of the Promised Messiah (on whom be peace).”
