ACLU Director Quits After Daughters’ Bathroom Ordeal -

yawn <ignore> yawn
“I have shared my personal experience of having taken my elementary school age daughters into a women’s restroom when shortly after three transgender young adults, over six feet [tall] with deep voices, entered,” Dillard Smith said.

“My children were visibly frightened, concerned about their safety and left asking lots of questions for which I, like many parents, was ill-prepared to answer,” she continued.
The "ordeal"? What ordeal?
Sounds like the sort of trauma suffered by innocent young white girls back in the 60s when blacks started feeling entitled to barge in to white bathrooms.

If they were trans men then they were female-at-birth transitioned or transitioning men, the very people conservatives are trying to force into being in their assigned-at-birth bathrooms.
Like this dude http://newscult.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/menshealththumb.jpg Conservatives would have him going into women's bathrooms because he was born female. I suspect the article just got it wrong and assumed 'trans men' means biological men with female gender identity (it doesn't). But it still shows how the issue is so silly. One way or another you're going to have people who don't look like the societal expectations for sex entering into a restroom. So you may as well not be a dick by presuming they're a danger to you. As these girls did. It's telling that the article never states that these transgendered individuals actually did anything apart from being there.

Anyway. Being an advocate of LGB hasn't stopped many people from being transphobic on the 'T' part.

I am sceptical about the story, it only seems to be appearing in fringe press. Put a google search and non of the main news outlets have it.

However, if they were MEN weren't they in the wrong room??
Looking at the home page for this blog, I've a strong suspicion of some bias against trans folk.
This makes the term used, "transgendered men" questionable, perhaps a misnomer to heighten outrage.

I don't know what happened.
But if it's true this person resigned from the ACLU, then this is probably a good thing.

If they were transgender men they they were going exactly where conservatives want them to go. Doesn't matter how big and burly they are, if they have a penis or not, conservatives want those born female to use the female restroom. If they were transgender women then the article writer doesn't know what they are talking about from the get go and it leaves anything they say upon the subject suspect.

If this lady was really all pro-LGBT rights and equality then she shouldn't have had such an issue explaining to her children about transgenders. Would have done it before the supposed issue even arose. Another thing that makes this article highly suspect.

This thing is just ridiculous. Children can and do understand far more than what they are given credit for. My daughter is a whole whopping 7 years old and she understands it. It really isn't that hard to explain. The only ones having a hard time explaining it to their children are the ones who either don't understand it themselves (and likely don't want to) and/or the ones who find it "wrong" on religious standing. Honestly, with those people, their children probably could understand it better than them. Precisely why they don't want their kids taught about it. They want them as ignorant as they are.

Can we just lock the thread now that you've basically won?

It says "transgendered men", which means a man who despite being born female, appears like any other male. Thus it's understandable why women might be taken aback by the presence of men, cis or trans, in their restroom, so this serves as an example as to why transgendered people should be allowed to use the restroom that coincides with how they identify. Force a man to use the women's restroom just because he was born a girl, and issues like the one in the OP will occur. Thank you @esmith for the pro transgender equality post.

(yes, I know the article's and poster's real intent. I'm being facetious.)

No not really, I could care less who uses what toilet facility. I got over that in 1961 on my first visit to Japan.

So as far as the post goes I was just curious to see what comments would surface.
Is Rush and RW media still scaring people telling them that boys will be showering with girls? Rush is wrong 99.7% of the time, but he works for the establishment elites. So that's expected.
