Afghanistan: Taliban backtrack on reopening high schools for girls

'The Taliban have reversed a decision to allow Afghan girls to return to high schools, saying a decision is still to be made on the uniforms they must wear.

Schools were set to open after months of restrictions after the Taliban seized power last August.

But a notice from the education ministry said schools would continue to remain closed, causing confusion.

Some girls were in tears as parents and students reacted with anger and disappointment to the last-minute move....

...The notice added schools would reopen after a decision over the uniform of female students was made in accordance with "Sharia law and Afghan tradition".'

Do the Taliban really expect us to believe that it takes months to decide what a uniform should look like? Either they are incompetent or their culture is founded in ignorance and this is a pretext to keep it that way or both.

In my opinion.

What do you expect?

A fair and open society with a terrorist group empowered and reinvigorated by the Biden administration? ?

If the continuance of education for your populace is deemed not as important as what clothes they wear when learning then I would say there is some serious failure to appropriately prioritize within "Sharia law and Afghan tradition." This is the thinking of extremely juvenile minds.

They really need a secular government.
But it's not worth our trying to install one.

Contrast Afghanistan where the people did not fight for themselves (outside of the Taliban) and Ukraine where people are laying down their lives for freedom.

We needed to get out of the endless war that was unwinnable because of the people themselves.

But thank God for Preside Biden who is doing the right thing very skillfully in Ukraine.

God sent Biden to us, eh?
Next time, have him send us someone from the A team.

If you're writing what you did because he's not perfect, good luck with that.

He reversed Trump's destruction of NATO and got us ready for Russia's invasion. His experience dealing with the Soviet Union and Russia gave him he background to do that. He's increased the standing of the US overseas.

He just wasn't the pick of the litter.

I never said he's terrible.
And I agree with his Ukraine policies.
But I also see the negative side of his record & personal traits.

It was Trump that made the deal with the Taliban.
Trump's deal was dead.
He just didn't know it.
Biden was the one President who actually ended the war.
Obama appeared to have been very dishonest about his
promise to end the war.

Obama was smart in not ending it.

Biden just increased the danger for the foreseeable future.

Obama was smart in not ending it.
Obama was a fool.
He didn't learn from history or the necessity
of eliminating the opposition when the populace
lacked the will to do it themselves. Obama
wasted 8 years of lives & lucre pursing an
unwinnable war. Biden at least faced reality
squarely, & ripped off the Band-Aid.

Islam & Afghanistan aren't the danger.
USA, Russia, & China are.

Hostages and airline hijackings.

Courtesy of Biden.
Airline hijackings were entirely the fault of a
society that took no precautions against them.
- No hardened cockpit access.
- No procedures for defeating demands.
- No screening procedures.

Hijackings aren't a threat. Violent expansionism
by Russia & China are, along with poor reactions
by the west.
