Afterlife of the non-believer in your faith

Fill me in.

As per the christian we're going to Hell (exactly what that is is another debate in itself)

What happens to people that don't follow your faith?

Well, UU isn't a doctrinal faith, so there is no answer for that.

As for my theology, there is no reward or punishment for in/correct guesses. We all go on to new lives, until we learn all we need, and "graduate" from the life cycle.

I don't have a so-called "faith" per se, but suffice to say that y'all are going to the same place I am. The downside is that you will be like tourists fresh off the boat whereas I am going to blend it with the locals. ;)

In Buddhism there is no difference between "believers" and "non-believers" in these kinds of cases. What happens, happens to all. Practicing Buddhism is one way of working within that system to induce beneficial outcomes.

In Wicca, non-believers and believers go to the same place. There is absolutely no difference in what happens to people who aren't Wiccan. Wiccans generally believe that there is an afterlife called the Summerland that we visit in between reincarnations. There is no punishment area. We believe in retribution in this life, and not in another.

I, personally, don't believe in an afterlife.

The worst a person could experience for bad actions in Judaism is non-existence. That's only some opinions though.

There isn't any really solid answer to this question in my own faith, but, myself, I think that nonbelievers must do some form of penance for their sins in the afterlife before being allowed into paradise, or, alternately, for the worst of sinners (and I mean mass murderers and the like), their souls simply destroyed - that is, blotted into nonexistence. Keep in mind, I don't believe that either category suffers at all, though the former category may experience difficulty (it wouldn't be true penance if it weren't a hardship).

Some in my faith believe that all nonbelievers' souls will be blotted out. Others believe in eternal penance or suffering.

I only believe in eternal hellfire suffering for demonic (i.e. evil supernatural) entities; I don't really believe in Hell except as a prison for these entities.

Honestly, I don't believe there is a reward from a Sugar Daddy in the sky or anything like that and a damnation for those following the 'right' faith/s and 'wrong' faith/s respectively (presupposing that there are right and wrong faiths, of course).

I can understand a 'purification period' of sorts, but not based on beliefs, but rather based on actions.

Personally, I would not enjoy the company of a Deity who punished innocent people..

I'm a Christian, and according to my Church's beliefs, most non-Christians will go to Heaven.

Non-non-believers (;)) will be forced to watch endless Richard Simmons workout tapes - Buns of Steel - by Christopher Hitchens armed with a bottle of Johnny Walker Black and a copy of the Quran.

Greetings

What happens to people that don't follow your faith?

As with most things you can ask me about my beliefs, it's not a completely simple answer and it can be looked at from many viewpoints.

However, in the literal sense, when you die, you will probably be buried or cremated or the such, and then I believe you become part of the Aeya again, much like before you were born.

That is what I believe will happen to everything that is alive, regardless of whether they believe, do not believe, or can not believe.

It depends entirely on the sort of person you are, and what you do in life. In fact, a very good atheist may have a better future life (reincarnation) that a very bad person who believes in God and practices the religion.

Segregation.

It stands to reason. Having assumed you will live, you should do so again for all others. If you have the ability to stand up from the dust (your body) then the next guy that dies will be able to do so as well.

But let's say the next guy, and you, don't think or feel in the same way.
You will separate and go your different ways.

There is hierarchy in this life....I suspect that much carries over.

Here in this world, there are greater persons than yourself.
Bigger, faster, stronger, more intelligent, and greatly experienced.
This will probably carry over.

You will seek out.... all...or any....who think and feel as you do.
They in turn will be looking for you.

The same manner that you use in dealing with your fellow man, will follow you into the next life.
You will be dealt with, as you have dealt with others.

Do you think that at some point, you, or the collective belief system of any group you may be part of, would be able to reform the idea of viewing non believers as wrong doers?
do you whole heartedly believe that 'non believers' are on a different level of morality from 'believers' and need to have their ways corrected?
