Aged Care

I find it absolutely disgusting my wife is locked up in the Aged Care facility. She is fully vaccinated and I am fully vaccinated yet visitation is very limited. These poor people are nearing the end of their lives.Just to be there holding her hand means so much to me.Having carers attend to her that are not fully vaccinated I find very hard to deal with.Nurses and carers in health are very limited and I have often watched in the past as some of them have worked double shifts.Whether that is legal I do not know.It breaks my heart to know she is laying there 24/7 maybe thinking WHERE IS HE.
The authorities just don’t get it !!!

I'm truly sorry to hear of your plight.

I can understand the limitations in visitation, however, as the elderly are more likely to susceptible to contracting to COVID-19 than those under 50.

That said, and I know it's not the same as being there with her in person, but have you considered the possibility of being with her by other means such as FaceTime or Zoom? I think that could resolve the "where is he" problem.

You are right.....they can arrange for visits with PPE in private rooms. Its just too hard I guess. Its a very risky environment for those with low resistance to this virus. The care workers can go from patient to patient, so surely they must have to wear PPE gear?

My husband was in a Care Facility for three and a half years before he passed away....I visited him every day. I did that as much for myself as I did for him....I understand how you must feel.....for these poor souls, there are worse things than dying......being separated from loved ones is the most heartbreaking thing....for them and the people who want to be with them in the time they have left.

What a heartless legacy this blight has left to the world.....:(

I don't think its a matter of not getting it but how to act for the common good. These facilities are petri dishes for infections, staff ill equipped and under trained to deal. Add to that the vaccinations are not all performing as hoped.
But I empathize with you and know hearts and prayers are with you and your wife.
