Romanian, 67, pregnant with twins

Adriana Iliescu says she expects to live for many years yet
Romanian doctors say a 67-year-old woman is seven months pregnant with twin girls after fertility treatment.
If the pregnancy comes to full term, it is believed that Adriana Iliescu, an author and academic, will become the oldest recorded mother.

Urk. I honestly can't see the logic behind that. Pregnancy creeps the hell outta me...

Why someone would have fertility treatments to become a mother in her 60s, I don't understand. She's hardly likely to live past the kids' high school graduations.

If she wanted kids so bad, what was wrong with adopting? Especially in a place like Romania?

I definitely am not saying she shouldn't have been allowed to do this, but it just makes no sense to me.

My kids wear me out now, and I'm half that age. The last thing I'll be looking at doing in my 60's is having more of the little buggers.
She may expect to live for many years yet, but life can often fall short of our expectations.

Good points all. I agree that its irresponsible of her to do such a thing. She's obviouly not going to be alive/coherent when her children need her most.

When you're old enough to easily be your kids' grandparent, that starts to be just a little bit on the scary side. I mean, people have been raised by their grandparents, yeah, but it would be really weird to have your mother that age...

Who exactly is going to run and jump and play around with this child? That's what bothers me. My son is an extremely hyper child and while my parents who are 58 and 67 respectively, can play with my son, they don't have the energy or the ability to do as much with him as I can, obviously.
